Re: Ritchie Blackmore - king of manipulation!
Ptr - thanks to Ian and people like you, I too will refer from now on to the current Ian Gillan Band as "the touring band". They do not deserve to be called DP.

For me it's "Ian Gillan's Touring Circus" anyway. Gillan is a Monty Python fan, so it fits.

Steve and Don DONT BELONG AT THE CEREMONY!!! Are they BEING INDUCTED? NO!!! So, please, show some dignity and stay at HOME!!!!!!
And other thing, ptr is trying to follow her gramma in the manipulation game. When someone says you cannot step up to stage to play YOUR OWN SONGS at a ceremony play homage to you what does that tell ya? I respond: They dont want you there!! So yes, IG is trying to stop RB from being at the induction. Read between the lines you FOOL.
IMO they do belong at the ceremony as they are present members of Deep Purple...
The Deep Purple being inducted is NOT the current ''Deep Purple''. And I use '' '' for a reason. They have no business or right being there and it's clear Gillan and Payne are the biggest puppet masters behind this. It's pathetic really. Ritchie - for all his faults is not even 1/4 of an old, sad, bitter person that Gillan is, who is clearly intimidated by Ritchie and the fact that he would make him and the current line-up look bad musically (but has no problems making money of mostly Ritchie's creativity and creations...)
They should have honored Jon Lord by having the mk2 and mk3 members (seperate, would say mkI too but good luck finding Rod) performing on stage with Lord's keyboard parts played instead of another keyboard player and photos/videos of him on the big screen.
Instead we'll get this ''Ritchie Blackmore's Greatest Riffs & Hits'' cover band with 2 hired guns who are - rightfully - not even being inducted.
Pathetic.
Sums it up perfectly Jimmy, Im so gutted and angry by this Gillan inspired debacle.

No, even if Ritchie is the king of manipulation, Ian outdid him this time. Because Ian managed to get three soon-to-be inducted HoF musicians stopped from playing at their own induction in favor of two musicians who had absolutely nothing to do with DP getting into the HoF.
Even if Ritchie is the prick you think he is, ptr, what Ian did to Glenn and David is inexcusable.
Or did Ian sing on Burn the same way Morse and Airey apparently played on In Rock?
Ian Gillan just said that he wouldn't show up if Airey and Morse were not invited. Eventually, they managed to find a compromis to have everyone invited (maybe not Simper and JLT) if the performance was done by the existing line-up of Deep Purple. Let's be frank: I don't know who else could perform live otherwise. Blackmore seized the occasion to turn himself into a victim because he didn't get what he wanted. I don't know whether the RnRHoF could allow Coverdale and Hughes (and Paice), maube with Morse and Airey (?) to play a second live number from the MkIII (or MkIV) time... That would be fun, although quite unlikely.

Re: Ritchie Blackmore - king of manipulation!
This HoF has been a joke since it's inception and with further proof waiting 23 years to induct this legendary/influential band.
If the HoF had done it right to begin with, Ritchie Blackmore would still be Purple's guitarist, Jon Lord would be alive and MKII might have taken the stage together
to except their trophy or whatever memento is given out...oh well, that ship has sailed.
Grow up people and either enjoy the current DP, or go away and play your old albums.

Re: Ritchie Blackmore - king of manipulation!
That's what I do - I listen to the old albums. I post here because I loved DP, but if you guys want to split the DP section of the forum between 1968-1993 and after 1993, I am all for it and guarantee I will never post on the section of the touring band - you can have that all to yourselves.

I am a fan of a band selling 100 million albums. You, who are a fan of a band selling maybe 2 million and coincidentally going by the same name, tell me I should go away??? Grow up yourself.
