Atlantic Crossing 1CD & The Bible II 1CD?
The last 4 tracks on a 1CD called "Atlantic Crossing" (DP label) are listed as being the following -
1. Highway Star
2. Smoke on the Water
3. Strange Kind of Woman
4. Child in Time
And it's claimed that they're from Deep Purple's show at the Felt Forum in New York on May 27th, 1973. Since the info. on bootlegs is so often incorrect or erroneous, anyone know if the last 4 tracks are actually as listed as above, and if they're in fact from the particular show they're claimed to be from? If not, then what are the actual last 4 tracks, and which particular show are they actually sourced from?
Also, since no source is given for the last "Smoke on the Water" listed for the 1CD called "The Bible II" (Crystal Sound label), does anyone know where it comes from?
Any help at all will be greatly well-appreciated - thanks very much.

Re: Atlantic Crossing 1CD & The Bible II 1CD?
I can't really help you as one should hear the music to make at least preliminary judgement.
I did a bit of online research on Atlantic Crossing. It seems to have most songs of a concert in Vienna 1973 and then the New York tracks you mentioned. In principle, there is no reason to doubt it is incorrect. Bootlegs are targeted to collectors, and word of bad labels and traders would spread very fast.
Typically hoax bootlegs are something like a very mundane title like "Live in the USA", and the tracks are ripped off an official release like Made in Japan. In the 1990s, I saw Live in London "bootlegged" as hoax US or Japan concerts. Nowdays, you don't really see them anymore in the last few record stores which still exist. With the internet, there's no market for them anymore.
Check this out:
Deep Purple at Felt Forum 1973
Different date than on the CD you mentioned, but does not have to mean it's incorrect. I don't have the gig listings here with me.
In general, bootlegs are a very shady thing, and above all illegal in most countries. Use consideration with them!

Re: Atlantic Crossing 1CD & The Bible II 1CD?
The CD "Atlantic Crossing" has been given a quite meaningful name compared to other releases of that kind. It refers to the two 1973 shows to be heard on the CD which were on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. The first four tracks are from Wien, Austria March 14th, the last four tracks are from Felt Forum, New York May 27th which must not be confused with the Hofstra University show from June 7th which exists on DVD now.
The last tracks on "The Bible II", from Black Night to Smoke On The Water, are from a Monsters Of Rock festival at Pforzheim, Germany, August 30th, 1987.

Re: Atlantic Crossing 1CD & The Bible II 1CD?
Thanks for all that. However, wasn't the Hofstra Univ. show in 1973 that can be seen on DVD actually on May 29th rather than June 7th? Wasn't Deep Purple actually in Cleveland, Ohio of the USA on June 7th in '73?
Also, it's actually the first 5 tracks on the "Atlantic Crossing 1973" 1CD that are from Austria on March 14th - not just the first 4.
Anyway, thanks again.
