Re: The Purple Album.....
Spectacular. Heavy but in keeping with the original. Want to hear the rest now. Thats a lot of tracks and work on there.

Re: The Purple Album.....
Song: David's voice doesn't sound too bad there. Some processing but it fits the song. Stormbringer isn't particularly challenging for the vocals ... campy video but oh well. Overall I dig it for nostalgia purposes.
The album: Track listing is about what I'd expect (I do like that he included "Sail Away") and I'm very much looking forward to hearing the whole thing. Going to be interesting to see how this all unfolds.
Also interesting that Reb took the Stormbringer solo ... makes me wonder how much involvement Hoekstra actually had in the recording of the album.

I think the vocals sound good (and as you say the processing has a place here) and the track listing is pretty cool. David singing Holy Man? Can't wait. Some of those song choices though will leave David very exposed...exciting stuff.

Oh yeah. I was just going to remark on Holy Man. Interesting choice. I'm very much looking forward to hearing the whole thing...

I never thought I would hear David singing this, let alone the rest of those songs. The songs of my youth. Spent hours listening to them on vinyl and thought they were just part of DC history. Quite happy with this development.

Re: The Purple Album.....
Thanks, Scotsnake!
SB sounds really cool - this should be a hit. They just don't write songs like this anymore.

Re: The Purple Album.....
Just saw the announcement. Funny David once said these albums are pointless when you have the originals. You can keep this, cover albums are totally useless. No wonder Doug split. Disappointed. I will not be buying this.
