Re: Strat advice

I bought the Fly 103 additional speaker a couple of weeks ago, so now have a Fly stack! Great for using as an MP3 stereo speaker set up too.

Re: Strat advice

Does anyone here have experience of the Fender Custom Shop 69 pickups? I've been thinking of buying a second Strat which would be put together from parts. Since my current number one has an ash body, maybe alder for this one. Rosewood fretboard with a neck profile a local builder created for me Pickups are the issue. The 69s are the ones Ive been thinking.

I like the '69s. It goes without saying they're a little ballsier than the 54's which are a bit 'chimey'. The 69's as you imagine definitely have a Hendrix vibe to them. They sound great paired with alder.

Re: Strat advice

SC? Single coil?

One strat has Duncan SSL5 at the bridge and two SSL1's in the neck and middle (my black '73). The other one has a Fender '69 at the bridge, an American Standard in the middle and a '54 at the neck. I really like that combination, its pretty versatile. The Duncan's are higher output while the other ones sound traditional "strat".

Yes, single coil.

Thank you, that's very helpful!
