Is This Love & Looking for Love
I was listening to 1987 after a longish break, and these two songs really stood out.
It would interesting to hear these two stripped from the lavish effects (the snare on ITL for example). On the other hand, the production must have been one key to the album's mega success.
As a side note, DC was the best rock singer back then. What a voice, too.

Looking for Love is great. Is This Love needs a stripped down, basic soul approach with female backing singers. I can't stand the original anymore...heard it too many times. :-)

Can't believe Looking For Love was left off the album in the States. I think it could have been a big hit.

I first heard that song in a local disco we used to go to. The DJ, whom I knew, used to play that. I remember going, "that's Coverdale", and racing to ask what song was it. It was such a great tune - girls liked it, too...
It took me some time to find the track as I bought the album from a local store who used to get most of their stuff from the US (which I didn't know at the time). I can't remember if LFL was a B-side to a single, too.

Agreed and at that time it would've been massive.

Re: Is This Love & Looking for Love
DC has threatened to play LFL live on more than one occasion but sadly it has never happened. For me it's the best song on 1987.

Re: Is This Love & Looking for Love
I think LFL is the best song on the album and also one of DC's greatest vocals ever. Why oh why would the record company (and John Kalodner and DC for that matter) choose to have Children of the Night on the album and leave LFL off it in the US.
