But then you miss the best bit!
Indeed Blackers water throwing technique was actually quite impressive
He does have good aim, doesn't he?

Ok just watched the whole Stuttgart show as above OMG what a BAND!!!Why oh why wasn't this show filmed and released officially instead of the NEC show?Deep Purple really were the masters of shooting themselves in the foot.Instrumentally this is very close to the 70s standard only Giilans vocals are a let down .In all honesty they should have let Gillan go again and brought in another singer.Doogie would have done just fine .But then the rest of the band wanted Gillan so we all know what happened.

Re: Glorious Chaos
Yeah, but it went the right way in the end. Clearly was spoiled by being the enlightened dictator he was in Rainbow and whilst acknowledging he he never quite had what he in Lord and Paice, he didn't appreciate them enough. Really happy to see the Purps out there, as they are.

I suppose it did go the right way for Ritchie too as he's never been happier it seems. For me though I would much rather see a DP out there with Blackmore on guitar, wouldn't you?Just a shame that the band were playing so well on the TBRO tour and Ritchie quit because of Gillan, who if were all being honest was the ONLY member not delivering. As for Blackers not appreciating Lord and Paice? then I don't think thats true? The fact that he acknowledged that he never had the same again is proof of that.I think he appreciated the talents of ALL the MK2 members i mean he even invited Gillan to join Rainbow back in the day.He was correct about Gillans contributions in reunion years though he really did struggle badly which was sad to see from a guy who was the greatest rock singer of them all in his day.

Blackmore wanted an earlier show to be filmed (e.g. one in Germany) because he hoped that Gillan's voice would still be in good shape then. But the producers decided that they wanted to release a UK show. So Blackmore did a suggestion to have good music recorded, but the whoevers rejected his suggestion and decided something for some reasons nothing having to do with the music. They got what they deserved.

yeah I was aware that Blackers wanted to record an earlier show and was obviously annoyed about the NEC show being recorded at all, add that to the cameraman on stage that Blackers specifically asked not to be there, then you can see where the water throwing thing came from.It was childish without doubt, but no more childish than the bitching remarks from his bandmates on the official concert release.I wonder if Blackmore was ever asked to comment on the official release?ie was he interviewed at the same time as the rest to give his version of events?seems only fair dontcha think?

If he was, I'm sure he most likely declined, especially at the time.

yeah he probably would decline which in actual fact left him looking the bigger man instead of bleating about one bad event.I mean Rogers comments "i was angry and sad at the same time and it made it so difficult to play well" are just ridiculous! cmon how many times over the years did they play a gig when Ritchie or indeed one of the other band members were in a strop ,or Gillan was drunk or had yet another cold and couldn't sing?Another comment from Jon was along the lines of" life doesn't depend on that man anymore" No it didn't but then they carried on making a living from the songs that that same man was the prime mover behind.Sad really a truly awesome band that just couldn't get along with each other.

I cant help myself, but it´s strange how many people had issues to work with Ritchie, even Blackmore´s Night since 97 have had more than dozen of lineups! Ritchie said in 1996 already that he is dissatisfied with some members of new Rainbow and he also said that after three months almost everyone starts to bore him as colleague in the band.... But there is huge difference - Rainbow and Blackmore´s Night are much more based on Ritchie´s authority, Deep Purple were not band of subordinates - but equal members - and Ritchie obviously didnt like it. He had conflicts with IG, he had conflicts with DC.... lead singer syndrome obviously replaced by lead guitarist syndrome. It´s obvious that IG never had authoritative tendency - as even his own bands werent under his strict direction.
