Ritchie Blackmore Solos DVD by Danny Gill

Saw this as a recommendation video at YouTube.

If someone is interested, and I recall there are several people into learning RB guitar style, this guy has done a great job with famous Blackmore solos. I like how he has everything in three different tempos. Not just deconstructing the licks, but playing everything in context by slowing down the backing track as well.

He has done many other DVDs as well, inc. Dio.

Very calm style of showing the stuff. He seems like a nice chap to boot.

Probably the closest we'll ever get to the album versions since TMIB doesn't like playing the same solo twice...

We're lucky if he ever get to hear RB play those SONGS again!

As for the DVD, the only minus in those clips is the guitar sound, but I suppose it's the same problem with all this stuff: you need to make the samples as musically accurate as possible, so cranking out amps and trying to make it sound like the original is not a priority. Plus, it is most likely people who buy this stuff are bound to play in their garages anyway, using similar sounds.

One detail I like is that the guy seems to use different fingerings to RB here and there, yet he sounds really much like RB. This means that he has gotten the musical ideas down, rather than just tablature-style licks.

Thanks Rezi. I usually shy away from instructional videos (prefer to work things out myself), but this one looks good. His Schenker one looks interesting too.

I've seen a few guys do Ritchie instructional videos and not use their pinkies...that's one of the things that set him apart from his contemporaries; that ability to get that speed when he wanted it.

this guy makes it look effortless.....very interesting to watch eg the E Flat to Gm section of the Burn solo. The licks different to how I imagined. ditto Since you've been gone, There’s a couple of licks in there I could never quite work out, this solo shows the RB genius.....I imagine he only played it once or twice and somehow came out with these amazing phrases spontaenously
