Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
I think if he finished with DA it is rather in favour of some all star approach with bigger names similar aproach to Hughes in BCC. I would say at least Marsden calibre for WS fans. In fact its no much time left for all of them maybe with Hughes exception. But i doubt it will be Blackmore as Hughes would already twitted it.
Sort of semi acoustic with Page would be nice but for David anything these days willbe vocally difficult.

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
Doing something with Page would be interesting. The two have remained close all these years (remarkably considering David's past relationship with Plant) and I think it wouldn't be far fetched at all to see them do something.
I keep saying this but, DC's current project and "Whitesnake" could be two completely different things. He may have offers from no-names for guitar players for Whitesnake, but he may also be collaborating with a "known" guitarist (or about to) for a David Coverdale project.
In order for it to be solo or semi-solo it would need to be a known and relatively big name guitar player.

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
But was it DA who decided to leave or DC who moved on?
I find it peculiar they they didn't break this news through a joint statement.
DA saying everything happened so fast and that they weren't ready - doesn't make any sense after having worked so closely together for 12 years?

Some great comment and thinking. Alas, I think, probably what will happen is very little! As has been mentioned here, and on other threads, DC doesn't do that much - be it 2 albums in 12 years, or on the reissues, we rarely get anything of note. He has some health considerations, and his family is important to him. He is at a time in his life where naturally people slow down. And DC cant really slow down much more!
I'd love to hear many of the things folks have mentioned. But, if we get 1 or 2 of the suggestions, we would be very fortunate.
You might be right but I'm curious about Doug's big plans comment and his reference to the David Coverdale Band... We will see of course.
Whitesnake have always been the David Coverdale band the closest they came to being a real band was the classic Moody Marsden lineup but even then DC called the shots.so no real change there

Well, it's possible to make conclusions. It was quick.
Doug was recently in Tahoe, working with DC.
David wished him well with going solo. Doug said this is wrong.
Sounds like a rift to me, especially as it was quick.

I agree but Doug has never referred to the David Coverdale band until now...I wonder if that's the next, short term project.

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
The speculations re Blackmore / Page is unlikely, I think. Did not DC confirm that WS will continue and that Reb is still in the band?
I think Sykes or Mardsen ( or Vandenberg) joining is far more likely.
Some kind of reunion scenario.

They planned to, but Doug said someone leaked it early and caught them off guard so they each had to respond. I don't know who would've leaked it though aside from DA or DC.

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
If Doug say's "I know who it is!!" then it leads me to believe it's either a well known replacement or Marsden. Bernie would make some sense actually.
Don't discount DC deciding to release a side project with multiple guitar players though. It's all up in the air at this point.
