Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
Vandenberg is probably a more likely candidate than Sykes.

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
I see neither happening but weirdly, I would think there would be more chance Sykes of the two.
DC has had many chances to get AV back and tried him in 1997, and for whatever reason didn't feel it was necessary for him to bring him on the Whitesnake 21st century journey.
I'd like to see DC work with as many different players as he can, probably outside of the Whitesnake banner. But that also looks less likely.

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
I think Sykes would be a backwards step too, and it wouldn't last long. I'm not convinced Vandenberg is playing up to his old standard, judging by clips of Moonkings live, and I never thought he was a great fit for WS anyway.
The guitarist I'd like to see DC working with is Luke Morley from Thunder/The Union. Great songwriter and can write in a more laidback style which would suit DC's voice now.
[edit: or Bernie of course ]

Oh, this is a good idea indeed! (Even though a new studio album from Thunder would be even better)
I don't think he's gonna let the WS brand so easily but I'd love to see a solo album with many guests: Vanderberg, Sykes, Marsden, Bonamassa?...and dreaming of Schenker, Box, Hughes, Blackmore...

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
Wouldn't it be something (though highly unlikely) if it was Ritchie?

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
I do not think that replacing Doug is any problem he is not a player that is material for the band sound but frankly speaking there are hardly any personalities around David these days comparing to 80 ties.

Maybe Mardsen and the more acoustic approach is coming...

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
Interesting set of events.
Whitesnake isn't over ... but who's to say the next project DC put's out is Whitesnake related? There's probably no way he can go on the road with his recent surgeries so he may be taking a prolonged break from touring? Who knows.
Thought Aldrich would be there forever quite frankly.

I agree. I HOPE it's not Sykes to be honest and I hope Marsden features. Maybe it won't be WS. All very surprising.
I wonder if the BLackmore rumour is behind this!
