Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
As per Doug, via twitter and facebook
https://twitter.com/Douglas_Aldrich/status/464897118449045506
I'm wondering if that means the end of WS for DC? Even without WS, I was expecting these two to work together in the future. Which, of course, they may do.

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
'Well I guess news that I have left Whitesnake was leaked...
I planned and hoped DC and I could release a joint statement. We will as soon as possible but everything happened so fast that we aren't ready.
Firstly,
Thanks to my big bro David for such a killer run together!! So many songs, tours, projects, always inspiring and pushing each other!
Mostly I was to thank the loyal WS Choir and fans around the world.
You have been so amazing to me and it's been an honor to play for you with WS.
I love you guys and I'll see you all again. Thank you so very much for your unending support.
Also, not sure how or where the info started about a Solo Career but this is not true or correct information.
I have no plans at this time to go solo I'm just not in the Whitesnake/David Coverdale band anymore.
I'll let you guys know what I'm doing ASAP but for now please know I very much appreciate your support and will hopefully do a statement with My Brutal Brother DC shortly.
Big love for the Aldrich clan.'

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
The reference to a solo career came from DC, who an hour before broke the news saying DA was leaving to pursue a solo career. So clearly not singing off the same hymn sheet.

DC says it is not the end of WS.
He also put to a tweet saying Sykes time!
And confirms Reb is still part of the band.

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
Wow, I always thought Reb would be the one to go before Doug. If Sykes is indeed back (they must've really buried the hatchet!), I'd be really curious to see how well he and Reb mesh. Plus, as much as I like Sykes, he doesn't seem that easy to work with.

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
Wow.
Always thought Red would leave before Doug too.
This was surprising news, especially considering Doug's been working with DC up until a week ago(?) for future projects.
A bit strange that DC tweeted it instead of doing a joint announcement, as Doug also indicated?
I think it's a good time for Doug to move on and it will be interesting to see what will come from him next.
Will Reb take a more active writing role now or has Sykes already received the call?
I think this would be an excellent opportunity for DC to finally move on from WS, but he seems intent on continuing with the band.

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
Surely DA's commitment to Raiding the Rock Vault cannot be the reason?
Marco Mendoza went on the road with Soul Sirkus so wasn't available, had to go. Tommy Aldridge did a clinic tour, same thing, had to go...
Not the case here I hope?

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
This is so weird. DC is losing his writing partner...Maybe it's a good thing in terms of musical direction.
John Sykes has been so unreliable (pretty much since Blue Murder), that I wouldn't count on a long time relationship (if any!).

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
Actually, I think DC calls the shots as far as direction goes so I don't think that will change that much regardless who he writes with.
Plus he seems insistent of not stopping with WS, so I think it'll be more of the 1987 era style, at least touring wise.
Just my feeling.
I wonder what will happen with the projects DC and Doug have been working on recently? Does anyone know what those projects were? The photos DC tweeted out of the 2 of them working together on acoustic?
What happened with the ITL reissue?
I find it a bit curious that Doug is working with DC one day, then leaving the next, with DC ultimately announcing it without DA being prepared for it?

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
Of course there could be a number of reasons. The facts show WS being quiet for the last 6-9 months, with DC being out of action. At least in the short terms that will continue. And Doug has done some work and would appear keen to do some more.
Doug has always come over as a jolly decent guy, so (at the moment!) he is not shouting his mouth off too much!. But there is a fair bit out there -
He has said he has spoken with Reb today,
he has tweeted DC saying he is not going solo.
He has also said
'Andy, it was my decision alone. All will be revealed in time. I needed to walk away. DC is in total control of his future.
David has big plans, all great.
He also says he knows who DC has got lined up as his next guitarist.

Re: Doug Aldrich leaves Whitesnake
Wow- I really didn't see that coming! DC has just had his new studio finished, then tweets pictures of him and Doug 'jamming' (acoustically)- then this! Sounds like there's been a disagreement over something, whether it be musical direction or band members. Doug is very tight with Michael Devin so I wouldn't be surprised if he also jumps ship now.
In terms of John Sykes, that would be really bad news as far as I am concerned. 1987 was nearly 30 years ago- everything about that time has gone- the fashion, the music, and most importantly DC's ability to perform that type of music to any great standard on stage. Sykes hasn't achieved much without DC and by all accounts, isn't the nicest guy! I'd rather he got Bernie back!!
