It's just an awesome, larger than life performance! Otherwise I really enjoyed watching the "Machine Head" classic album documentary and the "History, hits & highlights".nondisclosed_email@example.com (purpletemple)Wed, 23 Apr 2014 10:49:37 +0000 Re: Top Three Deep Purple DVDshttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p478363,from=rss#post478363https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p478363,from=rss#post478363Well for me it depends. If you just consider the quality of the performance or the historical valute I'd say: 1-Copenhagen 1972 2-California Jam 1974 3-History, hits & highlights If you consider also the quality of the dvd as a product, audio, picture, extras and the rest I'd say 1-Total abandon 2-Perfect strangers live 3-Montreux 1996nondisclosed_email@example.com (fdr)Tue, 22 Apr 2014 17:56:56 +0000 Re: Top Three Deep Purple DVDshttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p478270,from=rss#post478270https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p478270,from=rss#post478270Copenhagen 1972. Great version of ST!! Perfect Strangers Live. Only because it is MKII and they are having fun. Cal Jam Honorable mention is the DVD which has part of Montreux Jazz Festival 2000nondisclosed_email@example.com (doggone)Sat, 19 Apr 2014 14:48:17 +0000 Re: Top Three Deep Purple DVDshttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p478266,from=rss#post478266https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p478266,from=rss#post478266You may find it strange, but the DP DVD I enjoy most is Come Hell Or High Water. Why? Copenhagen 1972 has poor sound compared to MIJ or In Concert. And good sound is more important for me than visuals. California Jam - well, it's certainly a piece of history, but imho not one of the best Mk III performances. Perfect Strangers live is very inteersting without any doubt. But on CHOHW Ritchie's playing is better to my ears, as well as Gillan's voice. Morse era DVDs are out of my scope, I don't own any.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Witchy Nightmare)Sat, 19 Apr 2014 10:53:46 +0000 Re: Top Three Deep Purple DVDshttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p478264,from=rss#post478264https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p478264,from=rss#post478264I very rarely play DVDs, often only once and then it will sit on the shelf while I play CD versions instead. But just yesterday I pulled out Around the World and played disc 3 - Birmingham 2002. I sat through the whole thing with a massive grin on my face, and parts of it moved me to tears of joy. It's got everything you could ever want from a Deep Purple performance. Just the never-ending stream of jams and solos in Speed King packs in more "wow" moments than other bands manage in an entire concert. So for now I'm going to say it's the best DVD I've ever seen nondisclosed_email@example.com (David Meadows)Sat, 19 Apr 2014 10:45:56 +0000 Re: Top Three Deep Purple DVDshttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p478188,from=rss#post478188https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p478188,from=rss#post4781881.
