Re: Graz
More comments later, but for Mk3 fans, the version of Gypsy makes this release worth getting. GH's harmony vocal is louder than DC, and sounds awesome in the first verse. Some great lead guitar, too, with and without the slide.

Re: Graz
The package is a bit of a letdown because photos of the actual show exist. I can't imagine them being too costly. The booklet thus recycles much of the same photos and magazine clippings as previous releases covering 1974-75.
Geoff Barton's essay is okay, it brings nothing new to the table, except a lesson or two in German (notice how RB plays the German national anthem during the show... in Austria).
Maybe ask recollections from the guy who shot the photos which were not used for the sleeve?
I get it is not the most profitable release in the music business, but sending a few emails here and there and negoating for rights to use a few historical photos can't be that much more than they spent now.
Lack of encores - we must assume there was at least one, Going Down (and possibly HS, too), is a pity but arguably a smaller loss than the drum solo, which was an integral part of the live show.
The music? Excellent! I still say Birch did choose the best versions as basis for MIE, but the difference is minimal. The ad-libbing of the band's soloists is 1st class, e.g. compare Lord's solos in the three versions of Stormbringer. MIE has the most melodic one, whilst the nimble riffing of Graz shows another flavour of the man, Paris being somewhere in between.
As I wrote earlier, the previously unreleased Gypsy makes this one worth the purchase for Mk3 fans. LDD is a bit of a throwaway number anyway, but the version of SOTW just works. Not completely sold over to Hughes' solo bit here and in ST, but he was a full member of the band, this is 1975, self-indulgence, etc. etc. No problem there.
I'm very happy to be owner of this release. I have no idea if the last of the three 1975 shows will be released. Hell, do the tapes exist anymore? I have no idea. It would be awesome to get that out, too, but I assume the next release will be a Mk2 or a Mk4 show. Which is only fair.

Re: Graz
I remember seeing a list of the next releases in that series, and if I remember correctly Graz was the only previously unreleased show.

Re: Graz
Afaik Saarbrücken hasn't been released completely yet, just in parts on MIE and / or Final Concerts.

On MIE only, that's why I don't know if the tapes still exist, any or all of them.

Re: Graz
A release or even a boot from Saarbrücken would be very interesting because I've been told that the band played "What's goin on here" as the encore for the first time after 16 months. I really could not believe it but the person who told me that is a hardcore DP fan and specialist for more than 40 years now. I've known him for a long time. He never told any rubbish. He attended that show.

Wow, that's something!
Sounds unbelievable, but you never know. If this guy is a specialist, I have no reason to actually doubt him.
I'm surprised they remembered how it goes!
If the guy was not a specialist I'd think he got it mixed up with Going Down.

Re: Graz
Just got live in Graz. It's OK but not as good as Live in Paris IMHO. I wish they would release Saarbrucken in full. That may have been the best of these 3 shows.
