I agree Sandbagger. I bought the Didi Zill book recently and although it was still quite expensive (around £60 in the UK), there's a big difference between £60 and £275.

I definitely get where you guys are coming from and I can relate it to vintage guitars;

I used to sell them. The company I worked for would give me so much money to spend at guitar shows and pick up some interesting pieces. You have two types of players; the ones who don't "get" vintage instruments and the ones who do. The ones who do fall into two camps; the appreciators who know the real value of the piece and the ones that were born to haggle no matter what its priced at. Without fail these people would come in and compare something they wanted to one they saw somewhere else which with vintage instruments you can't really do. They would nitpick to the point where I would say "well, it sounds like you really like the other one a whole lot better and since its less expensive, you should really get that one".

That's interesting. I'd bankrupt such a business in three months. emoticon

Yeah, the last point is how I see it, too. "Oh, this guy is selling practically the same thing for less money". -> "Well, I think you should buy it off him, then."

Oh, of course it's fair to hope emoticon

Re: All These Years Ago - the photobook

I just received the Jon Lord book in the mail. I've just glanced through it and haven't heard the music yet. Very good photo's with pictures of Jon's family including his Mom and Dad. We do find out that both Jon and Ritchie wanted to do something together but, sadly, it never happened. Well worth the money. My next weekend off will be spent really reading it and listening to the music. emoticon

Would all those who've bought it so far say it's really worth the heavy price? Are the pictures all previously unseen? I'm still contemplating, shifting from almost doing it to nah and back again. emoticon

Having just picked up the 'workingman's version' of the new Jimmy Page book, I can only hope they do the same thing with Jon's; release a much-less expensive version down the road.

In Jon's book the pictures are mostly of him outside of DP and I have never seen them before. The DP Pictures a new too I believe. The written BIO is good as are the CD, DVD, and record. Being a JL fan I think it was well worth the money.
