I think the only ones RB stayed in touch with after leaving DP were Lord and Paice. I don't know if he has met Paice many times or is it just a Christmas card thing, but JL & RB went to dinner now and then. Blackmore famously has called Lord his "favourite dinner company". They split the bill so that one pays the food, the other the wine. According to Lord, the one who was handed the wine bill had to dish out more money.

That's believable depending on one's taste in wine (and alcohol tolerances) emoticon

Though the markup on wine in restaurants is so ridiculous, I have a hard time ordering a glass while I'm out...especially when you can get an entire bottle in a store for what the cost of one glass is in a restaurant lol

I noticed that wine especially, was quite expensive in the US. Spirits and beer very low though, compared to here.

Its ridiculous. Some of the finer restaurants will let you bring your own bottles in and just charge a corking fee (usually anywhere from $10-20) which when you think about it is still cheaper than what the restaurant would charge you for the same bottle (assuming they have it).
