Interesting comments on the mix. I personally thought the mix is miles better than both MIJ and LITSOTN. However, DC's voice is undoubtedly very low in the mix. I've only flicked through segments of each of the tracks so far, but I think the inclusion of so many songs from the last 2 albums makes this a relatively fresh offering.

Other observations- Give Me All Your Love and Love Ain't No Stranger are NOT downtuned-or at least not to the same key as they were on MIJ. DC's voice? Well, he seems to be hitting all the right notes from what I've listened to so far, although the voice has lost all it's depth. My first thoughts are that this album has been doctored far more than MIJ. However, it also sounds like a far more enjoyable listen than Made In Japan.

The best live mix so far is on the Live in the Still of the Night DVD/CD. Really good, crystal clear. I think you are right about the down tuning.

Definitely. That's the live release that represent the comeback era in the best possible way. Great video production as well.

Yes I agree actually that LITSOTN was a great mix, and also a great DVD of course. It was actually Live in the Shadow of The Blues I meant to refer to as having the crap (very muddy) mix. I get confused- what with all these live releases!!

LitSotN is tuned down 1/2 step. Discovered it when I went to play along for the first time.

Picked up my copy of MiB today...I agree, the performances are right on!! but like was said, the mix was a little wonky but I've only listened to it in the car so far. Will try and listen to it on the home system in the next couple days.

It almost sounds like a rough mix, which may have been the intention. An upgraded bootleg. I like the energy. Only listened in the car as well. I wish every WS tour was documented as well as the FEM tour!!!!

I know! I would love to see an official live release from the Slide It In tour or just a live archive series like Purple has been doing with Sonic Zoom/Edel.

I just listened to disc 2 and I like it!
The sound is still very loud, but less so than on MIJ.

Those releases remind me a bit of the late Rush live releases; big audience sound, lots of crowd noise, big "fat" sound in general, very loud and live but also a bit tyring in the end.

I still haven't quite made it through to the end of disc 2, but I honestly think (from what I've heard so far) that this is the best WS live release since Live in the Heart of the City- although still not in the same league as that album. The songs from the last 2 albums make it for me, as I don't need another live album featuring the old hits only. I also think DC's performance on Ain't No Love is better than I thought he was still capable of. On other songs, his voice is raw, it's paper-thin, it's raspy- but it's as good as it possibly could be at this point in time- which means it's probably not actually 'live', but then we all knew that anyway.

The album positively bristles with energy and think Tichy and Devin were a great rhythm section. In fact, I actually prefer Tichy to Aldridge- less power but more groove.

I think Tichy is a big loss, I really enjoyed those FEM shows with that rhythm section.
