Re: Made In Britain (Japanese Version) arrived today.
Speaking of live albums, was "Live In The Shadow of the Blues" ever released as a physical copy or was it digital only? I snagged it off of iTunes years ago, but always wanted a regular copy and never been able to find one.

listened to all of Burn/Stormbringer now. A great version. Audience is mad (must be South American). High energy version. Coverdale sounds raw but good. I like it. Best live version from WS so far.
I will listen to the rest of the album over the next few days.

Good performances but I find the mix hard to listen to. Very noisy, everything louder than everything else.. Except DC that are too low in the mix most of the time.

Ain't no love... is from Newcastle. And he says "this is where it all started, in this very establishment". As also can be heard in the clip below.

Re: Made In Britain (Japanese Version) arrived today.
Awful mix. And a way to 'bury' DC's voice. The guitars are so loud I can't listen to it. Sounds like DA playing in his living room along to a recording of the band from the radio
Time for an outside producer anyone?

Re: Made In Britain (Japanese Version) arrived today.
At least two songs are from Newcastle so you can listen to Youtube and compare.
It has more energy than the Japan release but the biggest difference is David's voice. Listen to SOTN from the UK and then Japan a few months later... very, very different.
The mix is a wall of sound style mix. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Listened to it all in the car now and its OK, better than Live in the Shadow of the Blues where David was obviously singing from the toilet.
The intro to Fare Thee Well on the World disc is very funny.
If Made in Japan and the Made in Britain was one big package it would be quite cool. Maybe a book as well?
Back in the day if a band released this many live recordings from one tour we'd be ecstatic. Now though...
Yes, they do need a producer. David is a bit mutton these days and they need someone like Kevin Shirley. But before that bigger changes are needed. The wall of sound has to go, music should come back. It needs groove, blues and soul.

Re: Made In Britain (Japanese Version) arrived today.
Interesting comments on the mix. I personally thought the mix is miles better than both MIJ and LITSOTN. However, DC's voice is undoubtedly very low in the mix. I've only flicked through segments of each of the tracks so far, but I think the inclusion of so many songs from the last 2 albums makes this a relatively fresh offering.
Other observations- Give Me All Your Love and Love Ain't No Stranger are NOT downtuned-or at least not to the same key as they were on MIJ. DC's voice? Well, he seems to be hitting all the right notes from what I've listened to so far, although the voice has lost all it's depth. My first thoughts are that this album has been doctored far more than MIJ. However, it also sounds like a far more enjoyable listen than Made In Japan.
