Top Three Bond Films

Again re-run on the telly, and I've been actually watching some of them because I haven't seen the old ones in HD before.

Your top 3 Bond films?

Mine (it was bloody hard to make the call!):

1. From Russia with Love
2. For Your Eyes Only
3. Never Say Never Again

Re: Top Three Bond Films

Oh man, I'm a huge Bondphile and I don't know if I can do one...

1. The Spy Who Loved Me-First one I ever saw in the theater so it will always have that sentiment attached to it. Plus after Ursula Andress, Barbara Bach was one of my favorite Bond girls (along with Jane Seymour).

2. Diamonds Are Forever-Connery.

3. Goldeneye-Pierce gets his shot at it and I really like what he did with the character. Its a shame what the tv studio did to him in that regard. He was pretty broken up over it. Famke Janssen and Isabella Scorupco are great eye candy too emoticon

And just because I can't narrow it to three...

4. Casino Royale-I had my doubts about Craig before I ever saw it, but he quickly quashed those from the opening scene alone. He's a great Bond.

5. On Her Majesty's Secret Service-Greatest storyline/plot with my least favorite Bond, which is why I didn't place it higher.

1. The spy who loved loved me; First one I saw. Just loved it and still do. Especially for that Bond girl emoticon

2. Octopussy. Great story.

3. Moonraker.

For Your Eyes Only was the first one I saw, and that surely plays a part. That was one of the films I recently re-watched I think it's indeed one of the best.

The beginning of FYEO also gives a little peek into his past, going back to OHMSS. I saw FYEO long before I saw OHMSS so it didn't sink in until I finally saw the latter.

Yeah.

I also agree that Majesty's is one of the best written Bond films. To balance that, they did the ridiculously speeded-up action scenes, e.g. the fisticuff on the beach!

Very tough...

1. From Russia with Love
2. OHMSS
3. Tie between a bunch (Casino Royale, Skyfall, Spy who Loved Me, Thunderball, maybe more).

I have to say, the worst part of the franchise were the Pierce Brosnan movies. Not due to Pierce who is a great Bond, but the movies were all very bad, with the possible exception of Goldenye.

Yeah, I definitely liked Brosnan as Bond. But like you said, Goldeneye was the best of the batch; the rest just seemed contrived to me. One of the cable stations over here runs Bond days on Saturday and I caught Tomorrow Never Dies as well as the two Dalton Bond movies; all three were pretty forgettable. For the longest time, I got Tomorrow Never Dies and Die Another Day mixed up...

Re: Top Three Bond Films

I really liked Dalton's first Bond film. His take was, I felt, closest to Fleming's original character. I remember reading a few of them, after seen like half a dozen films. What threw me was that in the first one I read (can't remember which one it was), it begins with Bond having a pounding hang-over. No way Connery's or Moore's Bond would have a hangover! But Dalton's, yes, I could see that.

I never liked Brosnan. The humour seemed tagged on, and too 'ordinary' handsome bloke type.
