Of course it is not groundbreaking album in terms it will not change the music world. But it very good in terms of current hard rock gentre status.
I totally agree Tomek its a great effort from the guys, Gillan is AWESOME on this release IMHO.

Re: ?!
having played the dvd first before the album, i agree about ian paices comments of listening to a cd in the player for the first time.
having done that just now, im sitting here with a very big grin on my face.
i also enjoyed roger and ians quips about babysitters on the dvd.
superb playing by steve and done. loved the live interaction. some funny lyrics on apres vous and vincent price.
think im going to love this album!

Interesting - what prompted you to listen to the DVD first?

I don't skip it...far from that, but I don't think it's particulary exceptional and I think there are plenty of better numbers on NW!?.
The music is very much what I expected from a song entitled Vincent Price. It's a bit of a caricature, a fun "scary" song.
The highlights for me are Simple song, Weirdistan, Bodyline, Uncommon man, Blood from a stone, Out of hand and Après vous. The album version of Hell to Pay is great too and so much better than the radio edit had to offer.

Re: ?!
Vincent Price is great track commercial in good sence of word. I only had to get used to the Nightwish female choir at the begining.
It has something 80 ties in sound like Ozzy Bark at the Moon due to Mr. Airey.
It is funny track with great sense of humour. And also Morse final guitar candenca is very good very Morse but he managed to get the melody right here. I like there will be video of it which was shoot yesterday or something.

Re: ?!
Yes, they are shooting a video for it. It will be fun to see!
Though I think a single/ video for Out of Hand or Wierdistan would have woke up more of those who have forgotten DP long ago... Those who listened to Perfect Strangers "way back when".. Plus, I think those tracks are really solid!

Perfect Strangers is great album which I really love, but at the same time, I know that it´s album which is exactly in the borders set by Deep Purple musicians before - not just in Purple, but with Rainbow / Whitesnake / Gillan Band etc. In fact - Strangers is great, but safe record. There is nothing what would suprise people. It´s album which says "hey, we are here again, and this is what you wished to hear" - and there is nothing what would extend Deep Purple style into new genres / styles / directions - its not important how you would call it. This is the reason why I rate Now What?! so high - higher than Strangers. It´s adventurous music - my friends even said that it sounds like music which could have been made by Muse in some parts...
Deep Purple sometimes travelled beyond the boundaries of hard rock and heavy metal, most notably stormbringer and purpendicular, and then they always return to their sound.
