Re: ?!
They look and speak like were just waked up during the night as they are from the same publisher their cerdibility is limited even if they heard one hour comb playing they would say something nice.

Re: ?!
I caved in. Ian sounds great! ATTITW gave me a Cherkazoo feel = good! But surprising to hear Paicey sound so un-Paicey, excluding the tambourine. Overall, ATTIW's production sounds very modern and un-Purple. I guess that's both a good and a bad thing. I agree it sounds like it could have been off of One Eye to Morocco. Ian is the star of the show here and I like the lush and warm Hammond sounds too.
He sounds more strained on HTP, but I don't mind that because he still sounds like himself and has the Gillan thing going. I realise I'm glad to hear new singing from him. I like the Hammond sound here too.
Overall, this made me hopeful for the new album. It seems Ezrin has ignited 'something' and arrangements seem to be a little more ambitious this time (Purple meets Ezrin/Morse Kansas anno 88?). I wouldn't object to that.
More thoughts upon second listen of ATTITW: Ian rules in the lower register. "I could have been a high flying diva but I have no desire for speed". Gillan/Glover AOP feel. I dig this. More than I thought I would. And I like that it's not what one would expect from them.

Re: ?!
Yup. Pretty much my thoughts on these tracks, too.
Re Paice's drum sound; remember this is a radio edit AND mix. I guess the drum sound will be more traditional Paice on the record.
Yes, Gillan sounds more strained than ever, but the over all impression is still good.
Looking forward to the album!

Re: ?!
Hell to Pay sort of a sequel to '69, lyrics referencing the Revolution club in London? "Up at the Revolution we were all prepared to die..."

Re: ?!
I listened to both songs on mp3 version. And all instruments are nicely seperated between the canals. For my taste paicey is a little bit buried in the mix in Htp Airey is the best there and is leading the song with classy hammond very lordy. Gillan vocals sound very good. I do not understand where he is restrained. Hell to pay miss a little more powerful drumming from paicey. The fills could more toms oriented and heavier. Also solo section suffers from heard it before. Hovewer i still expect better track on the album. These are ok tracks simewhere between the filler and oustanding.

Re: ?!
Strained in the sense that he doesn't have the _I_ power and 'limberness' anymore, and that the days of the 'Toolbox screams' are obviously over. But his voice still has its same character which is the most important thing. Looking forward to it.

Re: ?!
Toolbox screams at the time of toolbox were studio magic. Gillan really suffered live during toolbox tour. He was not in good vocal shape live then. And therefore pictures of hell was not performed live. Gillan started to sound good live with satriani arival.

Re: ?!
There are new teasers for three other songs plus album version of Hell To Pay...
DO NOT READ - SPOILER!
Simple Song - a title is obviously tongue-in-cheek.... The cuts from the song increase the interest in the whole track, because the very gentle floydish beginning breaks into song with very heavy part which reminds Jimmy Hendrix!
Weirdistan - Ian´s vocal reminds The Battle Rages On album, nice track. Stratovarius video with them listening to new Purple music - it was THIS track....
Out Of Hand - most promising song from all the teasers to me!!! Classic Purple and VERY groovy track!
Hell To Pay - album version! The single is missing the highlight of the song! Don´s madness Hammond solo!
