Everything Louder Than Anything Else?

Image

Does anyone know when Deep Purple exactly performed that famous guinness record show(Nigel perhaps?)?

I have a bootleg from the 30th of june when they performed at the Rainbow Theatre in 1972. But they also played there at the first of july. So do I have a boot from that loudest show or is it my luck again and it was at the 1st of july they broke the limits? Unfortunatly the guiness book entry doesn´t give any details.

I thought the first date. The story is that they had come back from an American tour of big venues and the road crew mistakenly set up the "big venue" PA in the theatre instead of the "small venue" PA they should have used. If this story is true, I think they would have noticed and corrected the mistake by the second night. (But I don't know for sure.)

I have that same article on a boot called "Unreasonnably loud" it is suppose to have been recorded in Germany in 1972(no exact date), but the boot also includes "Mumblin thing blues" and "Into the fire", which to my knowledge weren't played in 1972.It also features "Space Truckin" which couldn't have been recorded in 71.So probably two different concerts but the sound is the same!!!That's the weird thing about it! emoticon

Sometimes that´s the reason why bootleggers throw together tracks from various sources. Often recordings are incomplete so they include tracks with similar sound from other gigs as well.

But the one you´ve got is definitly not the one in question.

Just listen to it now, poor recording!emoticon

If this is really the loudest gig it´s one of the quietest records, though. But the performance sounds impressive. Sounds like one of the highlights of seventies purple and that means quite a lot! emoticon

It was definetly one of the Rainbow theater show's
but you probably can't detect the part where they broke to world record anyway,Simon Robinson say's they did it
during SKOW at the end where they hitthose three big chord's after the long Gillan scream and just before Gillan wail's again with that shaky woaooooooooooeoeoeoe!
I hope this help's,Simon and I go way back. emoticon

So this must be the moment where three members of the audience fall unconcious, as well! emoticon

All I can tell you is that The Who eclipsed Purple winning the title of Loudest Rock Band in the World. We know who the better band is though. emoticon
