A question for key player
Isn't that first keyboard chord in Sun goes down the same as the one which opens Perfect strangers (the song) ?
I consider Sgd like an obvious tribute to that very special song in DP back catalogue : plenty of organ, including a thrilling intro and a brilliant outro solo, a great instrumental break, and a general feel that makes me think that Sgd would have perfectly fit in DP come back LP.
A very good song indeed, that would deserve some live treatement.
Mathieu, France.

Re: A question for key player
They are both Hammond Organs, set on full crank to get distortion. Don Airey is using Jon's Hammond....but I'm not sure if it is the same one from PS. That is a cool intro and great song.

Re: A question for key player
It sounds as though there is a combination of a slow glissendo (that's sliding hands up the keyboard) on the Hammond organ that Don "purchased" from Jon (on the proviso he'd sell it back if Jon wanted it) mixed with a heavily distorted guitar with plenty of tremolo arm work - similar to how Steve creates the "engine" sound at the beginning of Highway Star.
It's a great sound but don't forget that Hammond is heavily modified and produces some sounds that others can't.
