Which brings up lyrics to an Iron Maiden song...Die with your Boots On!

"The truth to all predictions, is always in your hands"

Wish Purple chose the other road!

did KAYBD get any radio play at the time?
because if it did, i guess it explains why it's such
a special song for me.

I heard it on UK radio a couple of times so I'm sure it was also played on American radio. (Despite the Americans' complaints about their radio stations, they have 1000 times more rock programming than we do in the UK.)

In about 1985/6, it was on the soundtrack to "Biggles" (a really, really bad movie emoticon )

PS was released 84/5, with KAYBD as the first single/video.

Followed by PS, and Nobodies Home.

The album(and tour) was a great success, mainly due to the fact the band was re-uniting.

The tour kicked off in the 'land down under'.

I am wondering if there are any boots with George Harrison/ Lucille?

Pony
I must correct you if were talking the U.S. here,
Perfect Strangers was released in November of 1984.
Myself I heard the Title track on the radio,
two week's prior to the album's release.
KAYBD soon followed on the radio.
The first single was indeed
Perfect Strangers b/w Son Of A Alerek followed by,
KAYBD b/w Wasted Sunset's followed by,
Nobody's Home b/w Under The Gun 12 inch

The video's went as followed
PS nov/84
KAYBD dec/84
NH may/85

This is the absolute order of the event's
that took place.

There is one boot of the George Harrison appearance
with them in Oz,it's called
Sydney And George

It was filmed but it seem's to be kept under serious
lock and key.

Hey Tim
Hey Joe was Purples own reworking and I once asked
Simon Robinson about this,he is a publisher himself,
he said that Purple took a publicity writing credit for Hey Joe because they baught the right's to it.
They used to sell the right's quite a bit in those day's and Purple took credit for it because they reworked it heavily enough to call their version of it their own.
They would never do that with any song they were not legally obligated to. emoticon

Pretty interesting, Hey Joe was originally recorded and written, I believe, by a group called The Leaves. I wonder if DP bought the rights before everybody in the business did a cover of that tune?

Hendrix baught the right's to it, but
I believe to get the right's to it didn't mean he
wound up actually owning it,the same goes for Purple
however they were still able somehow to use it
in whatever way they wanted while they had the right's.
Maybe they loaned the right's in those day's for a certain price or something.
The right's are confusing to say the least but no self respecting artist's in those day's would dare risk
being sued for crediting theirselve's with something they
didn't have right's to.

Yes The Leaves did record it first as far as I know but
it was actually written by one man,
his name escapes me at the moment but I did know it at
one time.
My guess is that he sold it soon after he wrote it,
and I'm not certain if he ever recorded it himself.
I do know that he has performed the song before,
and I think he has done all the research involving who has
recorded it,in order to collect on whatever earning's
from the song that have been made without his publishers
consent.
