Check out Runaway Train and proceed to be blown away. It might be SMB I'm not exactly sure. nondisclosed_email@example.com (FatLarryandhiscar)Tue, 11 Nov 2003 19:38:51 +0000 Re: DREAM THEATRE & PAYNEhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24958,from=rss#post24958https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24958,from=rss#post24958Dixie dregs aren't exactly bluegrass! They have a couple of Southern type songs but no Blue grass! Tell that to a Bluegrass purist and he'd do the same you'd do if someone told you Blackers is a country guitarist! nondisclosed_email@example.com (purpletemple)Tue, 11 Nov 2003 19:07:27 +0000 Re: DREAM THEATRE & PAYNEhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24957,from=rss#post24957https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24957,from=rss#post24957If you like bluegrass I suggest you check out The Dixie Dregs. They can take this place or leave it for what it's worth, they are too busy giving back to the market's that support them. They may be small market's but they add up, 30 countries are far better than just one. See what I'm saying? If they sold 10 million copies of Bananas in this country , they would still be swept under the coporate carpet. Payne's connection with DT is just with licensing and merchandise. Frank Solomon runs the show, which explains why they have decent label support.nondisclosed_email@example.com (bad mofo)Mon, 10 Nov 2003 19:48:54 +0000 Re: DREAM THEATRE & PAYNEhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24948,from=rss#post24948https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24948,from=rss#post24948The DT Payne connection started on the Abandon tour in 98. I attended the Universal amphitheater, that show was beyond discription.Dt and Elp both were great, Mark 2forever say's he was there and that it sucked but I have been to way more Purple show's then that sorry excuse for a man,and I know the difference between a good and a bad performance. There is one guy on the net that I know of that has a boot of the show,I think he has the moonfruit site and I will be getting in touch with him to see once and for all if I was dreaming that night or not. Sometimes a boot can be very decieving depending on the quality. nondisclosed_email@example.com (FatLarryandhiscar)Mon, 10 Nov 2003 06:34:36 +0000 Re: DREAM THEATRE & PAYNEhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24947,from=rss#post24947https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24947,from=rss#post24947Surely even Bruce Payne couldn't destroy Dream Theater? Those guys have their heads screwed on the right way and if Brucy doesn't deliver, he's sure to get the boot. Leave it too Petrucci and Portnoy. Seems DP don't give Payne 'attention' he needs.nondisclosed_email@example.com (npj)Mon, 10 Nov 2003 06:26:18 +0000 Re: DREAM THEATRE & PAYNEhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24946,from=rss#post24946https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24946,from=rss#post24946I could be wrong but I swear I can remember opening my gatefold sleeve of CTTB and seeing the name Bruce A Payne in there. nondisclosed_email@example.com (FatLarryandhiscar)Mon, 10 Nov 2003 06:21:37 +0000 Re: DREAM THEATRE & PAYNEhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24945,from=rss#post24945https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24945,from=rss#post24945Human nature dictates that I need to point a finger. Tool is a great band, and has a lyric that goes 'I'm the man, your the man... so you can point that finger up yer ass' or something like that. I want Purple to be huge, but I'm living in the past. Obviously, Purple and Payne are happy together. Payne was brought into Purple via Rainbow, and Payne and Purple stuck. Bananas is a great album and hopefully a U.S. tour is coming!nondisclosed_email@example.com (ponytrekker)Mon, 10 Nov 2003 05:15:48 +0000 Re: DREAM THEATRE & PAYNEhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24944,from=rss#post24944https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24944,from=rss#post24944Let's look at it this way, can you name me a better manager. He has his finger on a pulse that nobody I can think of who is better suited for the job. Peter Grant he is not but I don't think he is that far behind. Purple need not be the flavor of the week, and can care less about any market that does not welcome them, because they don't need them. Bruce is as smart as a whip and has a Harvard degree. People often blame him when it is actually the label's marketing department that is to blame and there is no controlling that from a management angle. The promoters and marketers are fickle and balancing them is quite a difficult task and it's a wonder it get's done at all. With the current state of rock and roll not being fashionable and all, maybe someone can tell me who is better fit for the job?Since it has very little to do with who the manager is, as to why they are not on every dinner plate in the world. Since I have been in management myself for year's now I happen to know that it can often be the who to blame section and it deserves better than taking 100% responsibility for every thing that happens. When someone say's to me "give me a break" I often answer back with a resounding, "I gave you a break when I hired you" nondisclosed_email@example.com (FatLarryandhiscar)Mon, 10 Nov 2003 04:24:52 +0000 Re: DREAM THEATRE & PAYNEhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24943,from=rss#post24943https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24943,from=rss#post24943You mean:   or   or   or   or   Payne-great management there nondisclosed_email@example.com (ponytrekker)Mon, 10 Nov 2003 03:26:10 +0000 Re: DREAM THEATRE & PAYNEhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24942,from=rss#post24942https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24942,from=rss#post24942  nondisclosed_email@example.com (FatLarryandhiscar)Mon, 10 Nov 2003 02:57:37 +0000 Re: DREAM THEATRE & PAYNEhttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24941,from=rss#post24941https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p24941,from=rss#post24941Poor Dream Theater, I pity them.
