He's making a fool of himself if he does or doesnt go overboard  In fact, as this clip shows, when he actually trys not to widdle widdle (and he of course doesnt succed, he must widdle at least once) he exposes himself as a very poor lead guitarist even more. He just cant play PROPER lead guitar. His vibrato is !@#$ (on par with Kirk Hammets ) his phrasing laughable and the playing here doesnt sound fluent or with feel at all. It sounds like he's struggling.
Morse should stick to his country/jazz/widdle/pinch harmonic thingy and leave proper soloing to the real lead guitarists.

The sooner these Purple wannabes retire the better. All they do is go around the world butchering great songs mostly written by someone they like to frown upon It seems they aint got the balls to play their own material. That must tell us something. They must have really low confidence about their own ´´songs˙˙ beacuse they play so few of them.
