in contrast to big j's thread who was your fave.
the only reason i saw the purps at hammy odeon 3 times with jlt was due to a band called vixen.
nah..it was nothing to do with there musical ability...
i have to say musically lynyrd skynyrd.

Kings of the Sun ; supported Kiss on a late 80s UK tour. Aussie band , AC-DC-ish riffs but with a strong line in genuine songs. Great frontman Jeff Hoad and a brill drummer in brother Cliff Hoad.
One of totally unexpectedly brilliant supports, went out and bought the album the next day.....where are they now?

Bad Co or Mountain with DP, but probably the best was Van Halen opening for Sabbath in '78

Deep Purple opening for the Cream at the Inglewood Forum in the year of our Lord 1969. Deep Purple? Ritchie Blackmore was in that band at one time, NO?

2002 Dio opening for Deep Purple has been the best.
1971 Ashton, Gardener & Dyke have been opening for Deep Purple - that's the one I'm most proud of.
2003 Uriah Heep opening for Deep Purple. Sounds great to me, let's see if they will be better than Dio.
