Re: 1976 - 1978 Rainbow
This begs the question what project this is you're working on, Rezi?

To map the era's bootlegs for a couple of purposes. I am not concerned with bootleg releases, but the musical contents of the shows.

How has the project gone? I'm pretty keen on this era myself (was at the very first British show in Bristol on 31.8.76...four rows from the front, directly in line with Ritchie..my mate got a big chunk of his smashed guitar but I, alas, just missed out).
Sorry I'm so late in asking this...only just noticed the thread.

Without a couple of friends, it would have not progressed at all really. Been so busy with other stuff. But I just went through the shows I've got and would say the overall picture is clear.
That's some story you've got. Wish I'd been there! Does your mate still have the souvenir?

Ah yes, amazing memories. I was 15 years old and obsessed by Ritchie. It was certainly a fine show. I'm afraid I don't know if the ancient relic (an entire scratch plate, some wiring and a chunk of wood) still exists as I lost touch with my old friend a long time ago. I'd love to see it (and maybe even him!) again.

Re: 1976 - 1978 Rainbow
Yeah, I'd love to meet my old friend who got me into DP & the family. Haven't seen him in over 20 years, after we moved away. But I'll never forget all that. A particular memory is how we couldn't wait for the 1985 DP Rockpalast gig to air on television, and then watching the video tape over and over again for the rest of the summer!

Re: 1976 - 1978 Rainbow
Do I remember incorrectly, or is this in better sound quality than before? I.e. is there a good soundboard recording out of this show?
