As I said, you hear still everthing clearly, only overload parts are filtered out.

Like I said, it actually sounded better when I had my fingers in my ears because it was filtering out all the superfluous noise that was overloading my ears and making everything sound distorted.

In Heidenheim I stuck something into my ears before Purple hit the stage because Dio was loud as hell and I had already heard two more bands before. When Smoke started I thought I´d better pull that stuff out to hear at least that one cleary and I noticed exactly what R´sH said. A loud high pitched tune that made everything sound disorted.
Since that day I have tinitus when I hear to loud music or constant loud noise.

Ritchie's Hair, what you did when you covered your ears was exactly what my molded earplugs do....They filter out the distortion and all that high pitched mess and lower the volume. The foam ones do this to of course, just not as well.

So what's the point in making "everything louder than everything else"?
Get down to the front and love that noise!

Doesn,t wearing those earplugs deaden the sound though. emoticon

...not if you use them properly. I use the wax ones, and if you don't push them all the way in, you can hear the full audio range (and still hear afterwards). I couldn't possibly have justified spending $10k on a CD system if I'd had my ears f***ed by some noisy band emoticon .

Ok, I think I will try earplugs at least once and see what happens. I can pull them out if I don't like the effect.

Not for Blackmore's Night next month, though... that's not going to be too loud, is it?
