Do you wear protection...

...when you go to concerts?
I do, in my ears. I have just bought a pair of EAR linear earplugs (the christmastrees) and they are good.

I have a little tinnitus and would not want it to be worse.

Never. Funnily enough I've been to some effing loud concerts, people with me often complain but I never feel a thing. Had my ears checked about a month ago, both still on 100% so things are good there obviously. Mind you, it's not like I've been getting on, when I was born Graham Bonnet was still in Rainbow. emoticon

I don't but sometimes I wonder if I should -- I'm sure my hearing is getting worse. But I don't really see many loud concerts. As I get older, I'm finding quieter bands to listen to emoticon

What did you say...sorry can't hear you! emoticon
Nope I never do, have to have the whole experiment! It is not that often that I go to concerts anyway, maybe if I was going every week or so, I'd be more careful.

You bet I do.....I spent about 265 bucks (including doctor fee to have the earwax removed first) having molded earplugs made for me in April, because I play in live bands four days a week. These are totally superior to the 3 dollar packs of foam earplugs (which I still use when I'm asleep). I also use the new molded plugs at concerts of course and whenever I'm out somewhere if I have them and the noise is bothering me. The molded plugs do a better job of lowering frequencies and sealing up the ears than do the foam ones.

Not only that I make music myself, but I'v been to hundreds of concerts, so it would be suicide not to wear protection!

To all of you that don't wear protection and don't have problems (yet): Be happy that you don't have problems, but start wearing protection as long as it isn't too late! I know many people that never had problems and everything was right, but from one night to another they had a tinitus. If you once have tinitus the chance to come away from it is very small! My friend's doctor said, that the biggest problem is that people don't really believe that there is danger as long as they don't have problems with their ears. They believe that if they visited a hundred concerts without any problem, that they can go on without protection... until it is too late! It's your decision, if you want to risk that you'll hear permanently this strange sounds in your ear (from high tones to Mickey Mouse-kind of voices...)...

One single gig can be one too much, if you don't wear protection.
You can compare it to sex: You can have unprotected sex with people you don't know. Do you get AIDS, if you just do it once in 2 or 3 months?
