Probably not included because it wasn't on the original releases, and only available as a B side at the time.

Not Responsible wasn't on the vinyl edition, which most of us had back then. It was on the cassette and then the cd. Son Of Alerik was b-side and also a bonus track on a later cd release, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm aware of that. PERFECT STRANGERS was the first CD I ever purchased and it was because of the inclusion of "Not Responsible" which is a better song than almost half of the album. It still was on the album on its initial release, unfortunately just not on the LP.
If I remember correctly, "Son of Alerik" first saw CD release on RITCHIE BLACKMORE ROCK PROFILE Vol 2, which I also purchased on release day. It was never released as a bonus track until the '99 remaster, which is vastly inferior to the original release because of poor mastering and the error that is at the end of "Hungry Daze".
"Son of Alerik" is a brilliant jam session, but it was never intended for the album proper.

Re: Choose 7...from Perfect Strangers
Son of Alerik (the full version) was released in early 1985. It was the "B" side of the Perfect Strangers single. It was an LP size 45 RPM record.

'Not Responsible' is better than everything on the album other than the title track. Was it on the cassette?
