I haven't discussed this with Niko and the others so this is all unofficial and not a statement for or against, but what I tried to point out above was that some of the banned have been given numerous chances and the result is always the same. However, I do not wish to discuss any of the people mentioned any further than making one point below about one of them.
And DP did make a very good point. I mean it is well possible that some of them (there are more banned, and as I recall, some of them at the same time, than just those two mentioned in the original post) don't even want to return.
Further, for example GM has his own DP forum and is more or less active on two other DP forums. So it's not a case of him - or the others - not having chances to discuss all things Deep Purple and related matters in the web. Actually, I just went to see GM's forum and it appears there is even less conversation going on than here.
I personally don't like banning anyone, but the few years as a mod here have made me come to a conclusion that sometimes a ban is the best solution, even if that means there is less "salt and pepper" at the forum, as Trollprincess put it.

What we need is a new album to talk about, some exciting solo projects or special things happening on the road.
I love new posts and polls and all, but it's hard to find new ones. I mean how many times can we say what's our fav song from each album or our top best solos...
Hopefully 2009 will be a good year, full of events to discuss or/and get angry at each others about
