Where can I download Live bootlegs?
First off, let me make this clear: I DO NOT WANT LINKS TO TORRENTS OF ANY OFFICAL RELEASES ONLY LIVE BOOTLEGS.
Okay, now that I have that out of the way. Can anyone point me to where I may download bootlegs of concerts? Heres's a quick list of my shopping list: Deep Purple- say Fireball and Who Do We Think.... Tours, any show with Tommy (outside of the official ones), any with Satch. Also, I would like early Whitesnake (with Marsden still in the band) and Gillan (with Torme). Outside the purple family, I would like MSG (say any of the first three album tours), and Any Who show (with Moon). Any help on where I can get these is appreciated. Or where I can at least talk to someone about getting a few of these. I have no names or dates in mind, just the general time frames I mentioned.
I would say I could trade, but my collection is real thin. I have some real old (cassettes bought in the early eighties) Tommy Bolin Band live tapes (since released) and a Tape of interviews that are in real bad shape. I have two Marillion shows, but I doubt many here have a taste for them. One was recorded in Glasgow right before they recorded their first single and the other is called “The Last Fish” from the US tour for Clutching at Straws. Both shows are fm radio shows.
And just so I'm clear: I DO NOT WANT LINKS TO TORRENTS OF ANY OFFICAL RELEASES ONLY LIVE BOOTLEGS. I guess I'm looking to pirate the pirates, if possible.
THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Thousands of Purple, Purple Family, and other bootlegs. You'll need to contribute as well as downloading though... The Marillion shows sound interesting. There's a Marillion sub-board on there.

Well, well, well, i think i rattled someones cage, jezz GM, come up for air. Oh, and if i want to "warn" another user about potential bad quality "MP3's, i will. the last time i checked, it is still a free country with freedom of speech.
And if anyone is interested in what GM had to say, here it is........

Re: Where can I download Live bootlegs?
I had an account at the DP Hub from late 2005 to late 2006. I found many bootlegs there for which the audio file format was NOT announced. I had to download the files (mostly packed as .zip or .rar) and unpack them to find out which format they were, and generally they were mp3.
When someone uploaded something to the Hub with another format than mp3 (e.g. FLAC), he indicated it. So there seemed to be some kind of "modus operandi" to the effect that if the format isn't indicated, it's mp3. Some uploaders indicated it (some of them even stated the bitrate), some didn't.
I don't know how much the Hub has changed since I left, but I'd assume that if there are still uploads without the file format being stated there, it's probably mp3. Whether someone wants to collect bootlegs in mp3 format or not is everyone's own decision, but I think it's good to know what you get.

Re: Where can I download Live bootlegs?
You can download bootlegs many places.
The HUB, sharing copyrighted material
DIME, sharing copyrighted material
The Pirate Bay, sharing copyrighted material
Demonoid, sharing copyrighted material
In fact, you can't find one single place on earth, where you can share non-copyrighted music.
There are a lot of Band endorsed websites, but together with the non-endorsed, they are all sharing copyrighted material.
The HUB use these free internet services to share their stuff. The problem is it's over http. There is no error-control in your download. If it's a flac file or a mp3 file doesn't matter. If a transmission error happens, you might never know. If it's a flac or mp3 file that's not into an archive, and shared without a md5 file integrity check file, you can have everything completely distorted by digital errors.
The the usual mp3 user burn's it as cdda to trade against a real cdda, and think it has restored the mp3-rape. Then it's ripped to mp3 converted to wav the compressed into Flac....and so on. On the HUB, there is no control of the files.
Now, together with sharing flac files of previous mp3 files and there a high possibility of transmission errors, makes the way the HUB works pretty awful.
At DIME and all other TORRENT sites, the transmission error has vanished. That is part of the protocol, that part is *not* included in http. And at DIME, they take away what is lossy, when it's caught.
The big problem, NERO and a lot of other free software neglects the errors in the source file on purpose, unless they come to something with what they can't run. Nero just runs through errors on both Flac and MP3 files and burns whatever it sees fit.
In 20 generations like that, you might have a chance to hear a full show with Ian Gillan, recorded after 1973 where he isn't cringe worthy at more than one place, just because he tried to do things he had lost the ability to do.
So, if you care about quality and preserving quality, use DIME.
If you care about getting the most the fastest and giving !@#$ in preserving quality, use the hub.
Just remember, you can't make a DVD quality film out of a webcast, and you can't make a Lossless
cd out of a lossy. Some people think so, and it's scaring.
