Re: top 5 morse solos
I cant understand one thing... How can anyone say, that Steve Morse doesn´t have a feeling when his guitar just.... cry in long versions of Blind Man Cries:
- Blind Man in Montreux 1996 is most awesome guitar solo that I´ve ever heard by Deep Purple guitarist - just brilliant!!!

Actually, if I wanted to give an example of him throwing away emotion in order to just make the guitar whine, squeek and play silly fast runs in with a plastic sound then WABMC would the song...

Re: top 5 morse solos
Too hard to mention only 5, so I kept 2 tracks per album. I could have added some more, but I really like these 8, and if there has to be only one I think Loosen my strings would be this one, especially since I saw steve doing live 2 meters away from me last November !!
Loosen My Strings
Cascades
Seventh Heaven
She Was (even though it's more of a Morse/lord solo than juste a Morse solo a really like this one !)
Sun Goes Down
Doing it Tonight
Rapture of the Deep
Junkyard Blues

Cascades
Soon Forgotten
Vavoom
Contact lost-not really a conventional solo
Sifls
So I guess, for me he gave the best of himself (studio) on Purpendicular, which doesn't mean his solos on the other albums aren't good, but maybe less surprising.

Re: top 5 morse solos
I don't listen to Morse related crap, but there seems to be rumour doing the rounds that all his solos sound the same. Any truth to that?
