Well, Rezi mate. It's been a scream talking with you. It's been good.
Was it Johnny B Good?
Inject some humour now and then for me.

Reborn, that's a given! It's impossible to copy Blackmore, so the sound of the band had to change.
Btw Reborn, The Rods are coming to Norway this spring. Are Feinstein back on the road?

Do you know who the Johnny in the Berry song was supposed to be?

Was it not Johnnie Johnson, Berry's piano player?

It wasn't 'something for the weekend' was it.

The Rods have recorded a comeback album with Dio guesting on a few songs. Rock's killer solo album One Night in the Jungle would have had a wider release if his cousin performed the vocals as originally planned. I was not a big fan of the Rods and I'm very disappointed Rock has taken a backward step and reunited this band instead of Feinstein. I wonder if harsh words were spoken when he split the band after Wacken.

Yes, that's what he says himself.

I have to agree, the whammy bar stuff is just silly. When I hear it I can't believe this is the same guy who did songs like Loosen My Strings or Clearly Quite Absurd.
On the other hand, his rendition of SOTW feels almost like a parody, too. All that 1980s metal stuff going on. You'd almost expect David Lee Roth or (post-Trash) Alice Cooper to start singing after the intro!
I'm not so keen on Morse's rendition of PS song either. But, there again, I don't like his guitar playing per se for the reasons you point out - too much wee, wee whah, whah stuff going on. I don't like guitarists that use songs as a basic template to show off their finger-trigger capabilities. I prefer guitarists to complement the song instead. The song comes first.
Nevertheless, part of my dislike for his version is because I have got so used to the Blackers version. It's often hard to like a newer rendition if it departs markedly from the older one.
As someone said before, it is really all down to personal taste. If Morse had been the first guitarist to play this song - not Blackers - we'd be none the wiser and listeners might conclude that a new 'Blackers' rendition sounded bland by comparison.

I agree with the opening post, that Morse messes up PS.
There is no need to try to copy Blackmore, to do justice to the song. All you need is to understand the musical intention and idea. And to my ears Morse does not understand the tune.
The whammybar stuff and the squeeking overtones takes away the authority and majestic from the song. And we are left with something far less interesting.
But, as I've said before, Paice have to bring back some energy into his playing of the song too, or the tune will die completely.
