Malmsteen plays Blackmore
Has anyone heard Malmsteen play Smoke on the Water on the bootleg "Yngwie on Vocals" I've heard plenty of riff merchants play this song and play the riff wrong and turn it into something its not, but Yngwies take is pretty accurate to the 1972 performance studio and Made in Japan, I've heard none else [other than Blackmore] play it like this.

Re: Malmsteen plays Blackmore
I sometimes wish Yngwie would show some more of his Blackmore/Schenker influences.
I've been a fan of his since I first heard him with Alcatrazz. I first saw him live in the early 1980's. Just the same,I would love to hear him concentrate more on creating some more drama and dynamics into his solos. Slow things down from time to time, and let the emotion build through phrasing, and tastefull note selection. He certainly has the talent, and musical vocabularly to pull it off. BB King once said about playing solos "you dont have to shout all the time, sometime you need to speak softly"
Have to respect Yngwie though, he sticks to his guns and plays the way he plays.
Here's a link to a great song (the cat on vocals aint bad either). Well writen, melodic, nice changes. Come solo time the man starts rippin it up right from the start, and hardly lets up. Awsome playing, great note selection, as always. Love to hear some slow tasty playing in spots (Doesn't have to be a Clapton fest), but thats my personal preference.
Yngwie-Stronghold Live!
Listen to the sound of that Strat at the start of the song, those opening chords love it!

Where the link ?
I heard some YJM stuff with DW on vocals and it's really really good. YJM plays well, but the vocal is really doing the business for it. Sh1t-hot great stuff from DW,he's da man.

Don't try to understand things that are definately beyond you and know that they were known long before you came along............get my drift.
