Re: Favorite Still I'm Sad Version
I voted for the Rainbow instrumental version. It just rocks. I don't think I've ever heard a more original reworking of a tune. Blackers picked the most unusual Yardbirds track and turned it into a killer rock track.
I only didn't vote for the Yardbirds version because, when Keith Relf sings the last, "Oooh, I'm sad...", he sounds like a wounded owl.
I don't particularly like the live Dio version, and I can't really explain why!

Re: Favorite Still I'm Sad Version
In my opinion the Yardbirds version is one of the best vocal tracks of all time.

Re: Favorite Still I'm Sad Version
I had to refrain from voting for either of the live choices, for the reasons put forth in some of the previous posts. They're just too chopped, with the all-important drom solo edited out of both. Maybe the producers felt the spectacle didn't translate to a non-visual medium? Who knows, but it was a bad decision to leave it out, in my opinion.
So I cast my vote for the Yardbirds' version...

You Fool No One?
I go for On Stage too, although the best boot version I've heard is the Osaka 78 one.

Re: Favorite Still I'm Sad Version
In fact the entire concept of Still I´m Sad is just a rework of You Fool No One. All they´ve changed is the main song as vehicle for the solos to Stíll I´m Sad. Everything else is more or less the same and just where it belongs.

Re: Favorite Still I'm Sad Version
As much as I hate to admit it, it has to be The Yardbirds version, when that stinky guitarist was worth listening to!

Isn't that putting the cart before the horse (no offense Mred45). I seem to recall You Fool No one coming before his version of Still I'm Sad. Unless you are thinking of something else but I'm thinking of the openeing riff to SIS amd YFNO.
