Promise???

Good!!!

The reason I bought the Gold Top was I really like the guitar, and I got a good deal on it!

I've never claimed to be a good player (on the other hand, you seem to think I am), but I have tried out enough guitars to be able to spot a good one (unlike you, I guess).

I can also spot a good guitarplayer when I see one, and your statements about Dickey Betts (you didn't see it was him?) just goes to show that you aren't able to even do that (get your head out of Blackmore's rear end, and you will discover that there are more to life than the darkness you're surrounded with...y'know, up there).

The other guitar I have (as you know) is the Blackmore Strat (Japanese model), and the amp I have is the Engl Blackmore signature. If I was just pretending to like Blackmore, I wouldn't have bought those (and they did cost a lot more than the Gibson).

Do I use my guitar to pick up women? Get a life, man (I recommend it since I both have a wife and two daughters).

And remember, you promised you wouldn't say anything further!

Both BTN and I are quite civil, but sometimes it's hard for other people to see.

Well, I'm not sure about BTN, but he's one of the most interesting cases here on the forum to chat with...

Ookay then no problem mate, it just seemed things were going a little crazy here.

I am currently trying to sniff out a good and reliable electric guitar. I have been fiddling around with a little acoustic guitar for a few years . . . okay so I've had it since the early 70's and now I think it's time to step up to electric before I get too old to enjoy it emoticon

I have not got the foggiest idea about the technical side of guitars but I do have a good ear for sound. My wife and I went out to a couple of specialist music stores today and my head is still spinning at the range available, my choice would be either Fender or Gibson.

If it's between Fender and Gibson, the possibilities are endless. You got to figure out what you need for the music you want to play, then get some help from your local musicstore (but don't let them fool you...) or someone you know who have knowledge about guitars.

Well, you're never too old to enjoy it.

Go to the store and try different models. (As long as you stay away from the beginners kits you'll be all right) Try as many models as you can. Go for the one that feels right and deliver the sound you're after...or at least comes close. Gibson and Fender are two different beasts. But whatever you do, make sure you get a good amp. Many people spend a fortune on the guitar only to end up with a cheap practice amp and a sh1tty tone.

I would recommend Yamaha Pacifica.
You get more than enough quality for your money.

A salesman at one of the music stores also recommended that model (was it you Nikoemoticon ). I have got my mind set on Fender or Gibson although the Yamaha Pacifica is very tempting.

I definately have no plans to join or start a band but just something to play at home and to take to parties to play and that is just about my limit but I want something worth while to spend my money on.

I will definately let you guys know my final decision.

I have Yamaha Pacifica 112 (one of the cheapest Pacificas around) and when I'm gonna upgrade it for the better I'm only gonna get a better Pacifica, a one which costs as much as a mexican Fender Strat. That's how much I value Yamaha.

Yes indeed the Yamaha range is impressive and very nice looking instruments with a good sound to match. In fact when I was in the music store there was a chap playing a Yamaha and the sound was that good I almost reached for my Mastercard right there.

If it was not for the love of a good Fender then Yamaha would be my first choice for sure. emoticon
