New Mountain DVD from Paris 1985....
saw this when in New York earlier in the week, at first thought a bootleg but is an official release. didn't procure as I can't play US discs on my player. Having searched the internet may be a US only release for now going by the ads/reviews.
Anyone viewed yet, gives hope that perhaps the other DP show which was filmed might see the light of day sometime.
Cheers

Not sure which purple show you mean but it has to be better than the one that was released from Paris 85 because that was Bloody awful!!Gillans voice was shot and TMIB was in full white noise and sloppy garbage mode

There are 3 full shows from '84 and 1 from '85 that I would love to see released.

Re: New Mountain DVD from Paris 1985....
I have a Paris 85 gig on audio cd, and if the sound is good bootleg quality, the performance is quite good. Gillan sounds as good as he could sound back in 85, and Blackmore's sound is loud and clear.
I think there are many sources available for that Paris gig.

The Paris gig in question was filmed for TV. They did a sloppy job both sound- and picturewise.
But...It wasn't just the TV guys who did a sloppy job that night. Blackmore was far from what we were used to (and far from what he bacame after Gillan's return in '92), and his guitarsound at the time was bloody awful. Gillan had a cold (surprise!!), and his performance that night was far from his usual standards. Jon Lord was good, but his hammondsound in the eighties was just as awful as the guitarsound Blackmore had. Lord said in interviews later that, during the eighties, he tried to make his Hammond sound like a synth. He couldn't explain why, but admitted that it was a stupid move. When Morse joined, he got Lord to move closer to his 70's sound. A very wise move!
--- "It can't be hemmoroids! Everybody knows he's a perfect asshole!" Ian Gillan commenting on Blackmore's mystery illness causing show cancelations...a long time ago!

Totally agree with your assesment of the Paris show KB.If DP had performed like this in the 70s there would have been no need nor demand for a reunion as there would have been no legendary band to reunite! have to say that i am embarassed when people i have waxed lyrical to about DP sneak a peek at this show and judge the band on it, the usual response from them is "cant see what all the fuss is/was about"and to be honest if that show was all they had seen of DP then i cant blame them.

Re: New Mountain DVD from Paris 1985....
Yes that was an abysmal performance. I remember Blackmore was about that bad at Long Beach, but Gillan was good at Long Beach and of course had the cold. I bought a VHS bootleg of this about 8 or 9 years ago but I think I only watched it once and haven't thought about doing so again. There's got to be something better from then to put on a DVD.

With the Sydney show in 84 being filmed on 35mm film. We actually have a source to yield a print for High-Def DVD.
