Re: Stormbringer - Made in Europe

I got CTTB too and as on the others the sound is very good.
Dealer is such a great song, with Tommy singing and playing his guitar like the devil himself.
Getting Tighter is another greeat Bolin attack..

Indeed. Gettin' Tigher: wonderful riff from Bolin and vocals by Hughes.

Dealer is a pretty good song and my favourite part of it is Bolin singing.

my favourite Coverdale track on CTTB: I need love

my favourite Hughes track on CTTB: hard to choose between Getting Tigher and You keep on moving

my favourite Bolin track on CTTB: Love Child

my favourite all band together track on CTTB: Coming Home

(From the recent interview with Ian Paice by Brent at the DP Hubemoticon

Ian Paice: And Tommy seemed like a great idea. And when you listen to that record it was a great idea. In the studio Tommy was superb. He was inventive, musical, different. The problem with Tommy was not in the studio it was on stage.
(...)
So the problem with Tommy was not the fact that he was not good enough, he was great, in the studio he was superb, and that’s why the record is one of my favorites. I think there’s some really good stuff on it.

Brent: Yeah. There really is.

Ian Paice: Some great playing. Some great energy. But on stage it was an absolute catastrophe. He was like two different people.

CTTB really is an amazing album, and when I finally listened to my Japanese Mini-LP style CD reissue of CTTB, I found out that it was remastered, sounding brilliant, and much, much better than the previous CD:s of CTTB I've heard. You can actually hear a lot of stuff going on which was simply inaudible before.

If any of you guys would like a sample, just let me know.
BTW, did you pick up the Budokan DVD I made?

I'll jump on that bandwagon too, Sam! (I know, I know...an old Clydesdale like me probably oughtta be pulling the wagon...but what the hell, right? emoticon) Anyway, as I've opined in the past, a remastering - maybe with some remixes, too - of "CTTB" and the inclusion of some of what I consider some of the 'tastier' bits from both "Days May Come" & it's companion release "1420 Beachwood Drive" would make for one helluva nice package for DPMkIV & Tommy Bolin fans everywhere.
