Re: KAYBD vid with Satriani
I wondered if it was a deliberate move on Satch's part to keep the sound similar to Ritchie's (which was pretty crappy to my ears around the reunion era - I was suprised by boots of that last tour just how feeble his sound was)
Joe doesn't seem to use that tone too much in his own work - I just watched some really mellow stuff on You Tube (G3 playing Redhouse)
I know Steve has two amps he uses live, one which has his effects thru it and one that is "clean" - I'll have to look on Satch's website to check his gear out - perhaps it depends on wether you prefer Steve's Musicman or Joe's Ibanez. Don't they both use Peavey amps?

Re: KAYBD vid with Satriani
Interesting, I don't find his sound with DP Blackmore-like at all!

Re: KAYBD vid with Satriani
Satriani was very good, would fit DP well, but It seems he lacked/lack's feel. IMO he totally butchered the intros to Anya (and in the solos where he tryed to copy Blackmore) and solos in KAYBD, and he also failed to bring the energy into the playing when it comes to solos like CIT.
As far as improvising goes, I won't get into that, since they don't make them like Blackmore anymore.
