No. I meant the way the tracks are cut for instance (Woman from Tokyo is quite frustrating). I have nothing against the sound itself.

I have to say, I really like it! A lot of people seem to think it's a complete turkey, and I honestly can't fathom out why.
Welcome to the club, Benjy!
I've been a member for over 5 years now (that means that since 5 years ago, when I first registered as a board member for any Deep Purple discussion board) I've been praising the album's good points while not ignoring the bad ones & wondering (as you apparently also do) why so many people seem to dislike it so much...one of my theories has always been that there's always been a signifigant amount of people (maybe as much as 25-30%) amongst the 'dislikers' who've probably never even heard the album but let 'public opinion' ('public' in the sense of 'Deep Purple World') shape their own opinion of it...

Well, its just my non humble opinion but i really really dislike Ritchie´s playing in the 80´s. Its just noise to me (with some few exceptions). So, i´m not a fan of Nobody´s Perfect. Gillan is not that good either. The good thing is John, hes always wonderful.

I like NP, too.
The cut/editting is hardly a problem (for me). It's an album with music. The music is good. Why bother with anything else?

Re: Nobody's Perfect - why so many haters????
Dont like it because it is what it is.
It sounded alright, sorta, when it was released....but playing it for people who didnt know what or who it was, said it was crap...not that ever mattered, as DP fans have always been US vs. THEM....
Then they heard HS or SOTW, and said 'Oh, still crap'....
It was an album made to fill out contract obligations for a band that already hated itself within a couple months after reuniting....
Totally cut and paste... I hardly play it, except for Bad Attitude and Dead or Alive...as I got screwed out of the HOBL tour that I slept outside for tix....Blackie broke his finger before Miami.
Sour grapes....whatever....

Don't feel so bad about missing the HOBL show. Here in Kansas City, Blackmore was in a piss poor mood the whole night. He spent nearly the entire show glued to the drum riser, rarely acknowledging there was an audience. It was obvious that the band was in bad shape and I figured it was the end. I didn't see the band again until 1997(and had to drive to 9 hours to Chicago for that!)
However, I enjoy the five post-reunion tracks on Nobody's Perfect. All five are (IMO) the definitive versions of those particular songs. I rarely listen to the rest of that album though. All the oldies suffer from a lack of interest by the band and pale in comparison to other versions.

Re: Nobody's Perfect - why so many haters????
1)cos it has better bootlegs from the same tour than NP.
2) it's not totally live.
