Interesting point. However, I just can't see how it would be different to the conflicts in the old HS forum, and here, unless they'd be very heavyhanded with the moderating and perhaps try and select people who they'll take in. Otherwise, I can't see a difference from this perspective.

But if they will resurrect their forum, great!

Check out their blog on the MH t-shirt, it was started here.....the arguments came from here.

Hey, show some gratitude, man! emoticon

The only problem with that is, so many people do not understanding how to use it....Just like the quote thing.

Then they'll have to learn it. Everyone who is able to handle e-mail programs should be able to handle things like this.

Believe me, they can't. I was around when THS was running the forum, and a majority of people didn't know how to use the threaded posting. Just like here. A majority of people can't figure out to use the "quote" link.

Great! If the forums start up nicely then maybe we can shove this one six feet under.

After all, this board was founded only because THS forums were shut down.

I guess I can say a thing or two about it all...

I only joined the THS forum, because after years of posting in the Gillan guest book, AMDP since 94, and a couple of other boards, like DPDU, I wasn't happy with a lot of what I was reading.
All I could manage to see, was a lot of crap that I would go on to get sucked into, to this day, from the carry over of this forum, from that one.

Ceratin posters who are still here, were getting very out of hand 'IMO' and it didn't stop right away once this one went up either, all kinds of moderating techiques were tried, and pretty soon, some respect was gained among a lot of us, and we haven't been so bad since, except for occasionally taking it to that extreme.

Certain posters from THS forum have come a long way in their approach to posting, take MrEd for instance, the guy was one of the biggest trash talkers on THS, rude and crude as can be, but always funny to read, and I followed him well enough to know, that he was only defending his right to fight back some super morons, and I personally enjoyed all of that Ed, "and sold you short here in the beginning, by egging that on a bit, and even getting into it with you, knowing you would always make it interesting..." as I said, it's been a long journey, and Ed has come into a much more mature fellow to deal with here, and thats progessiely positive, and atleast shows public growth.(a sort of tribute I suppose)

I'm not going to say that I haven't been a major contrubutor in that way, but in all honesty, it was brought on from that they allowed to go on in there, in the first place... then they start to turn the other cheek, and were not liking it anymore, and I have to say, it has one hell of a lot to do with swipes at the band, and management, which would in turn, cause heated discussions, and trash talking to a huge level.
I'm sure the staff at THS would agree with that, as I have been told by someone who has discussed it with someone at the corporate website, as to why they do not want any interactive features there.
Too many management attacks, causes undesireble to read conversation.

So it would be another very moderated forum, they will take care in this way, I'm sure.
Another thing would be great, that was already mentioned, the layout of a threaded forum, would be great for collective banter, again... we all miss that, don't we?

Re: The Highway Star to revive their Public Forums

If this forum closes after the reviving of the THS forum, I hope that the administration of the THS forum will act similar to that of this one. It must be possible to discuss different opinions about the band's music, the management's decisions and so on. No insults and flames, but different opinions, controversy. It must be allowed to call a good show a good show and to call a bad show a bad show. So I hope that the new THS forum - in case it really comes - "takes over" the non-censorship attitude of this forum.

And considering the things I've read at THS in the past, I'm confident that it will.
