The Concerto '69 Really Is Wonderful, Isn't it?
I decided to pull out the DVD of the 69 Concerto today for a thrill. This was an extraordinary event captured for all time. The concept of it all is quite overwhelming, but I think it works quite nicely. Ricthie's solo in the first movement is mind bogglingly great. Gillan's bit in the second is so pure and beautiful that it makes the hair stand on your neck... added with Ritchie's tasteful yet reserved solo in the second. His tone is perfect throughout (as always). It all sounds so great after all these years, especially in surround sound. Ahhh my evening was made excellent thereafter.

At the time of posting I was only half through the show. I completely forgot about Ritchie's then John's solo in the Third Movement. Classy stuff indeed!!

It's something that puts DP above the rest.
And I love that special feature of Mr. Lord talking over the performance.
