I have to admit I don't know much about Uli Jon Roth. My insight goes as far as Virgin Killer and that's about it. So if anyone can make a suggestion feel free.

Most of his solo albums have some outrageously good playing and some abysmally awful vocals. If you can take one and ignore the other then Beyond The Astral Skies is my favourite, but I think it's been deleted?

Tokyo Tapes is essential as far as the Scorps go.

The "Van Hairlen" comment I got from someone else here, and only used it to get attention.
The virtuosos I speak of aren't the "neo classical" type, but more the jazz/fusion shredders, ala Satriani,Via etc...
That is not to confuse them with the neo classical metal shredders.
I think VH is light years better than most of the neo classicals, but I tend to find he can be easily as boring as any good guitar player can be,thats not to say I'm not a fan,I really like stuff like "Dreams",and several others.

Yeah his keyboard playing is often overlooked. Even Blackmore said he was more impressed with his recent keyboard work (circa 1991) than his guitar playing.

No, he's Danish. Actually, after reading an interview I realised than under all that make-up there's just an ordinary middle-aged atheist Dane guy who likes the traditional Danish christmas meal and owns a hand gun in the fear of someone breaking to his house. He lives in Dallas, Texas nowadays.
Weird guy anyway. emoticon

Yup, Good 'ole Kim Pederson!!!

I bought Abigail on cassette when it first came out. I never really warmed up to it. For the most part, I lost track of King Diamond's work after that. I still love Melissa and Don't Break The Oath by Merciful Fate. He seemed to sing with the high voice a bit less in MF, agree that it's an aquired taste - I need to be in the mood and these days, I usually only can sit through 3 or 4 songs.
