Steve bows out for good :(
https://www.loudersound.com/news/steve-morse-to-step-away-from-deep-purple-permanently-band-pay-tribute
many thoughts running through my head, will have to let this sink in. I thought he'd be back.
For now; thanks Steve, your talent has brought me so much joy, and your musical genius has been crucial at several difficult points on my journey.

Re: Steve bows out for good :(
I'm not really surprised, but I hate to hear this. PURPENDICULAR will always be one of my favorite Purple albums. My prayers go out to both him and his wife.

Re: Steve bows out for good :(
My overwhelming thought is of sadness, especially initially.
But i would be remiss if i didn't also mention that my interest is peaked by the thought of what a new studio album would sound like with someone else.

Re: Steve bows out for good :(
Actually - I dont know if I want them to try out something "new" with Simon. As Strat was major part of classic Purple sound, MusicMan was (and I would love to use words has been) major part of modern Purple sound - and actually I do not know what I want now. Its just enormous feel of sadness. I always said Steve should be final guitar player of band and he should be guitar player of the last Deep Purple concert.... Sad.

Whatever we think , it will be totally up to the band and good luck to them all. I hope they play "the aviator" on one of the remaining festival dates.

They have to finish the tour, then take a break and then plan the future of the band.
At this point they need a guitarist with a famous name that has a good fan base.

No - Steve handed torch to Simon in his statement. So I guess its Simon or the end.

Re: Steve bows out for good :(
At this stage, it’s relatively unimportant whether it’s Simon or someone else.
I am just saddened by the fact that this is such a difficult situation and reason for Steve to leave the band…I have only respect for Steve as a human being, and also this time I am sure he is making the right thing. It’s just that I would have preferred him to leave for so many other reasons.
I wish him and his wife all the best; and what happens to DP is fairly irrelevant for me at this stage. Let’s just hope they all stay healthy and do what they like best, whatever that is.
