I hope the people who have mentioned him joining DP were not serious. Don't like him at all.

Re: Deep Purple live with Steve Morse or Simon McBride?
How does a SM or SMcB thread morph into discussing Gary Moore, Ronnie Montrose, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Alex Lifeson, Edward Van Halen, Michael Schenker, Eric Johnson, Leslie West, Richie Kotzen, Paul Gilbert, Brian May, Uli Jon Roth, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, etc, etc?

Maybe because they want DP to carry on with another guitarist who has made a name. I wouldn’t know who.

Were all entitled to our opinions but im astonished with that one ptr!!!The Uli is a truly brilliant guitarist !!
Whether he would be suited to DP is another matter? but then SM was a strange choice for DP at the time too but he did OK for a while.

Re: Deep Purple live with Steve Morse or Simon McBride?
I was right again, but very sad and worried at the same time. The caliber of Morse is so high and it's hard to get a replacement that equals to him.
I'm worried who will replace him, I hope it's "NOT" McBride.
Steve Morse is miles away compared to Simon McBride.
Thank you very much Steve Morse, you are a first rate virtuoso guitarist. I will treasure all the albums you made with Deep Purple.
You will always be part of Deep Purple history.

Re: Deep Purple live with Steve Morse or Simon McBride?
Really sad, indeed and I feel really sorry for Steve and his wife.
I'll definetely miss Steve as a character and as a member of Deep Purple, I became a fan during his time in the band and for me it was just a fact that it was Steve standing on the right side of the stage smiling.
Still, I think he became less creative on stage over the years and I can't deny that after Ian Gillan did his tour with Don Airey and Simon McBride in 2016, I thought that a new guitarist like McBride would definetely bring some fresh air into the band.
On the one hand, I just want Steve to be there, on the other hand, I really enjoy what Simon does and how he approaches both Blackmore's and Morse's songs.
So from a musical point of view, I can live with this although I have to say that he and Don were a terrific writing team on those last 3 original albums.
Personally I find it hard to accept.
