next batch of live releaseas

https://www.thehighwaystar.com/news/2022/06/11/bombay-is-calling-again/

as a collector, I'm all in.
by now it does seem highly likely that all gigs from the cd box will be put out, with Tokyo as a mash up of the two nights.

I was hoping for another unreleased gig though, as both London 2002 and (especially) Rome 2013 were great additions

does anyone have ANY idea on how this series is planned, other than the apparent wish to have the cds from 2001 available as vinyl?

It’s only when I saw the post that I realised it’s 20 years since the soundboard series was first released. I got it then so Hong Kong & Japan are of no interest.

Bombay was a DVD only release and I’ve always wanted the set as a CD. Happy to see this getting an official release. Can’t imagine they need to drop tracks to get the whole set on 2 CDs. I’ll wait and see as sometimes these track lists are not 100% accurate

The issue is that on the video, they start with a pre-concert interview, than continues over the start of Fireball. I believe that's why it's on the video and not on the CD. Still, it's a pity !

Could it be that the only master they have would be the dvd? In that case, unless you can completely eliminate their voices over the beginning of the song, it’s impossible to put a clean audio-only version on cd.

Bombay Calling is my favorite live recording of the Morse era. No reason not to include the interview in the beginning of the new release. I think that it doesn't take away anything from the recording and actually adds something interesting to it.

It's been a long time since I looked at my DPAS Magazines but I think I remember reading that they put the interview over the beginning of Fireball because there was a tape glitch at the beginning of the song that couldn't be repaired.

I had a look through my Darker Than Blues and couldn't find that.

If they had access to the multi tracks of Bombay, they would most likely fix it.

So I’m thinking

* they don’t have them, and what they have is a copy of what they were given at the time. May not be a multi track even, perhaps a stereo track right of the board?
* a malfunction as mentioned. But I think that would have been more widely known

Seems to be pretty common: Black Masquerade on CD was just the stereo master of the DVD, and apparently on some of the tracks from Birmingham from CHOHW they only had the DVD version as well, if I recall correctly.
It seems that whenever a video was involved, they ended up messing with or losing the audio multitrack as it was not meant to be the final product and had to remaster the audio of the video for subsequent releases. Not a lot of care in archiving, I would argue.

I'm confused, according an online store the "Live in Tokyo 2001" is a 4-LP set and "not" a 3-LP set. The price is higher than the Hong Kong.

Is this a 3LP set or a 4LP set???

Somebody please.
