Re: Mark IX?

He's the most obvious and natural candidate. In fact, I remember somebody here already mentioning him as a 'ready to go' solution for some time, should Steve's hand problems have worsened. I'd love to see him also try it in the studio with the guys. He's a very melodic and versatile player, don't know about his creativity or jamming skills though.

Re: Mark IX?

Wikipedia has Mark IX as Airey, Gillan, Glover, McBride & Paice.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Deep_Purple_members

If Satriani was Mark VI then McBride is Mark IX.

After all there is a Mark IIc.

Mark VI is official because there is "no" other guitarist except Joe Satriani. Steve Morse is still the official guitarist.

What?! Are you saying that my prediction of Mark IX is happening too soon?!

Ptr, please tell me that Simon McBride is not officially Mark IX. This is only temporary. Right?!

When Satriani stepped in, Blackmore had left the band.
According to news, Steve Morse has not left the band, only having a break for private reasons. So no need for the IXth mark yet, I'd say.

But a live recording with McBride would be interesting!

Mark Bride... ?

Or if a number is required, mk 8 1/2

Anyway, I don't think THAT should be the problem. Question should be if this line up proves interesting enough for a live recording. A question I for one would answer with a loud YES already.

Indeed, very tempted to jump on a plane, fly half way around the world to see the first 3 concerts - Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Istanbul.

I'm hopeful that these lyrics might get a run with a re-worked CIT.

Sweet child in time
You'll see the line
The line that's drawn between
Good and bad
See the blind man
Shooting at the world
Bullets flying
Oh, taking toll
If you've been bad
Oh, Lord, I bet you have
And you've not been hit
Oh, by flying lead
You'd better close your eyes
Oh
Bow your head
Wait for the ricochet

Very poignant 52 years later. Never say never. If Julian Lennon can sing Imagine then anything is possible..
