Dio biography

To be released in July.

Based on Dio's hand written notes and finished by Mick Wall. Sounds promising. Available for pre-order now.

Oh dear. Moderately interesting for his pre-Rainbow career but the Rainbow/Sabbath/Dio stuff isn't very deep or new to any dedicated fans and the book ends when Campbell leaves Dio.

All in all a bit of a disappointment.

Re: Dio biography

That's a pity. I preordered a copy and it's sitting in my 'to-read' pile. I'll lower my expectations.

Rated 8 out of 10 by Classic Rock. It's not that good!

Re: Dio biography

next in line on my reading list

I'm actually in the middle of Mick Wall's Zeppelin book now, and it's really really good. (I find most of his writing to be very good)

Of course, there's one thing to write the book yourself from scratch, another to put it together based on scraps, drafts, and interviews...

I read it as well, and also found it disappointing. It's not that the contents aren't interesting but it does gloss over many things, and to end at the Sacred Heart tour is bewildering to say the least as to me some of the real interesting stuff would be what comes after his greatest success. It does seem unfinished, and some of the editing also could have done with some revisions, as for example some of the interjections by Wendy Dio manage to repeat certain things that are mentioned elsewhere in the book. Really wish for a part 2 though.

I don't think Wall did much, Wendy Dio stated most of the book was already there as written by hand by Dio and they typed out his notes and added a few passages.

done with the book.

pretty good, considering what they had to work with.

I hope there is a #2, and that Mick Wall does all of it

I've read Wendy makes it clear Ronnie always wanted the book to end when Dio headline Madison square garden in 1986, the first volume anyhow
