Banana's. Listening to the latest Gillan live CD I found myself liking a song I didn't use to like, "Razzle Dazzle" so I popped on Banana's. I like it much better now than I did when it first came out. Don't know why?

This is interesting, I always admired Coverdale for playing Mistreated without the original guitar intro but adjusting it for Whitesnake, sometimes with that lovely Lord piano intro. This is smart because actually it's very hard to play that riff with credibility: it's so simple and yet so visceral, the essence of blues rock, with tons of feeling an emotion not just in every note but particularly between the few notes, in the endless nuances in can have. Only Ritchie could play it properly and between 1974 and 1978 it's always been a highlight of his shows. Nowadays he's playing it more safely but I've never heard any other guitar player pull that intro off properly, that just play the right notes but it's not enough.

It seems the various spin-offs have stood the test of time better than the reunion.
