It seems to me that theres a hell of a lot of complaining on this forum about the guys who we are all fans of (else why would we be on this forum ?)
The fact is the legendary musicians who we grew up watching listening to and admiring are all old men and WAY WAY WAY past their best.Mainly
1. Ian Gillan who's been on the decline since the late 70s early 80s!! and at 74 is finished as a live rock singer and performer
2. Blackers who hasn't played rock guitar constantly for over 20 years and is now 74 and finished as a live rock guitarist.
3.DC whose been having voice issues live for over a decade now and is all but finished as a live rock singer but still puts on a performance.
those guys in particular had gifts that very few were given but they are old and its time up .
The question i really have for all on this forum is what exactly do you expect from them at their respective ages?
Some will point to Glenn Hughes as still having a great voice which he does, but then Glenn due to his various chemical issues has performed a hell of a lot less gigs over the years than the above mentioned.
The biggest frustration i have is with Gillan who lost much of his gift way too early
People age differently, RB is in good nick here for his age....

Many are couch potatoes by that stage, but you could also probably find videos of 70+ year olds playing football etc. to a decent standard as well, I think one of the keys is that you have to lay off the sauce! RB has obviously been p*issing it up for years and obviously doesn`t have much incentive to stop, especially as he still sells loads of tickets it seems?
Not sure what a video of Blackers playing football at 50 really demonstrates ?There is a huge difference between 50 and 74 as far as ones physical condition is concerned ,and there has been a huge change in Blackers condition since then.I have no doubt that drink has been part of Blackers story and abusing your body with alcohol does indeed have a bad affect over the years.

one thing which has become clear on this forum over the years is that is that the art of polite discussion has gone severely downhill !!
What do you expect from me when someone tells the same story for the 100.000th time? What is your expectation in terms of politeness? Answering something pretending I'm interested, simply ignoring it and answering nothing, posting some silly jokes and smilies?
Or stepping in ptr's shoes and counteracting?
Thanks for illustrating my point so profoundly Witchy
What do expect from you you ask? exactly what youve provided

I didn't mean "expect" in the sense of "see coming", but "expect" in the sense of "want". I thought that was clear.
But I'm ready to consider the case closed.

It demonstrates that people that fit at 50 tend to be fit healthy 70+ year olds, and I would have expected RB to be pretty fit at this stage and playing great guitar still (look at any recent video of Albert lee or Jeff Beck for examples) He can`t help arthritis but there has been a slide all round in his general look and fitness level which doesn`t sit right with the earlier fitter version of RB for me, drink is the probable cause as you say, don`t know what he eats but I believe Beck is a vegan, is that the key maybe?

I dont "want" nor "expect" any particular response from you Witchy
im glad you feel the case is closed though, only thing missing is an admittance that you overstepped the politeness mark
